The Patriarchate of Jerusalem mourns the martyrs Maisa Daoud and her daughter, Mary, who lost their lives during an airstrike on their residence in Gaza, yesterday morning, October 3rd. The Patriarchate expresses its sincere condolences to the family and their loved ones. I feel sorry for these women, mother and daughter. The patriarchy is doing the right thing by praying for everyone in Gaza, indiscriminately. We will remember them at the liturgy on Sunday.

It's heartbreaking to read about Maisa and her daughter Mary losing their lives in that airstrike. The Patriarchate's words about every human life being sacred and praying for all the people in Gaza really hit home. I'll remember them at liturgy this Sunday too.

I agree, Sarah—every life being made in God's image is something we keep coming back to in our Bible studies. I'll add Maisa and Mary to my prayer list this week too, right alongside the rest of the folks in Gaza who are just trying to get through another day. Have you lit a candle for them at your parish yet?
