Commemoration of the Naval Battle of Nafpaktostranslated

On the two days of October 10-11, 2026, the city of Nafpaktos celebrated the memory of the Naval Battle of Nafpaktos, which took place on October 7, 1571. This Naval Battle is considered a milestone for the war between Christians and Muslims that stopped the Ottoman expansion in the Western Mediterranean and created conditions for revolutionary activity, which is why it is considered historical. Both fleets were crewed by many Orthodox Romans, for this reason Trisagio was celebrated in their memory. On the evening of Saturday October 10, 2026, the Nafpaktos Naval Battle was reenacted in the Venetian Port.
On the morning of Sunday, October 11, meeting of the Fathers of the 7th Ecumenical Synod, the Metropolitan of Nafpaktos Mr. Ierotheos officiated at the resurrected Orthros and celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Dimitrios Nafpaktos, with co-celebrants the Priests: Archim.
