Meeting of the Archbishop with the President of the Republic with an emphasis on the field of social welfaretranslated

The President of the Republic, Mr. Konstantinos Tassoulas, was visited this morning at the Presidential Palace by the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Ieronymos. During the meeting, which lasted about an hour and took place in a cordial atmosphere, the two men discussed issues of cooperation between the Church and the State, with particular emphasis on the field of social welfare.

In particular, they referred to the support of the most vulnerable groups of the population, as well as our socially and economically weaker fellow citizens.

Also, His Beatitude brought to the attention of the President of the Republic the overall plans of the Church, in collaboration with the State, for the creation of student residences on properties of the Archdiocese, which will contribute to meeting the increased housing needs of students and young families with small children. The Archbishop was accompanied by the General Hierarchal Commissioner of the IAA, Protopresbyter Emmanuel Papamikroulis.
