The Archdiocese of Lower Danube supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing 3,300 schoolbags with supplies for the new school year.
The program "Christ in the school" debuted at the end of last week and is carried out in all eight parishes in the diocese.
Backpacks with notebooks, equipped pens, drawing pads, watercolors and writing instruments are given to the children at the end of the Holy Liturgy.
The most recent activity within the campaign took place on Monday, in Protoieria Brăila, where 691 satchels with supplies were distributed to subordinate parishes.
"With the blessing of the Most Reverend Father Casian, the philanthropic action Christ in the school is taking place again this year, an initiative through which the Church supports children from families with limited material possibilities. This gesture does not only mean supplies and useful objects at school, but also a message of encouragement, solidarity and care for each child," said the archpriest of Brăila, father Nicușor Sandu, for Trinitas TV.
