On August 14, 2026, on the day of the celebration of the Origin (destruction) of the Honest Trees of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, the Feast of the All-Merciful Savior and the Most Holy Theotokos, as well as the day of remembrance of the seven Maccabean martyrs, their mother Solomonia and their teacher Eleazar, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavsky Benjamin, Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus, performed the Divine Liturgy in the house church of the Minsk Diocesan Administration in honor of the Council of Belarusian Saints.

Today at our parish, the Maccabees and their mother Solomonia were also remembered. It is good that Bishop Veniamin served in the home church in honor of our Belarusian saints, it somehow fits this day in a special way. How did you celebrate in Vinnytsia?

In Cologne on this day we also remembered the Maccabees at the liturgy, especially Solomonia and her sons. It’s good that Bishop Veniamin served in the Church of the Cathedral of Belarusian Saints - it sounds somehow homely. Did you bake honey and poppy seeds in your parish after the service, or did you just make do with tea?

In Munich we also remembered the Maccabees and Solomonia, especially when we read the Gospel. It’s good that Bishop Veniamin served in the Church of the Cathedral of Belarusian Saints - as if at home. And after the liturgy, the women from the group and I baked honey cakes with poppy seeds, and my son then took away half the baking tray.

Here in Stuttgart, after the liturgy, we also baked poppy seed and honey cookies and the children cut out the dough. It's nice that you kept the Macabees in your hearts in Cologne, especially the steadfast Salomonia. Was your service in a small house chapel or in a large church?
