“Lessons of good deeds”: together we help children prepare for schooltranslated

September 1, 2026 · 1 min read

On the eve of the new school year, on August 28, the traditional annual charity event “Lessons in Good Deeds” was successfully completed in the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the city of Severouralsk. Her goal is to support children from large and low-income families and help them get ready for school.

Thanks to the caring and generosity of people, it was possible to collect a lot of stationery: notebooks, pens and other necessary supplies. The presentation of gifts was timed to coincide with the great holiday - the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The rector of the church, Father Andrei, addressed those gathered with words of spiritual guidance. He wished the schoolchildren good health and diligence in their studies, and the parents wisdom, patience and mental strength.

The organizers of the event express special gratitude to the partners who this year joined the good deed with the assistance of the assistant dean for social work:

the local branch of the Red Cross under the leadership of Irina Vladimirovna Kopylova; entrepreneurs Alexander and Lyudmila Malshakov.

The parish sincerely thanks everyone who did not stand aside and contributed to the common cause. Every notebook, every pen brought is real support for the family...

Thanks for sharing this. It's great they timed the giveaway with the Dormition feast—my kids always got new notebooks and pencils as a little back-to-school blessing too. Shout-out to Irina Vladimirovna and the Malshakovs for stepping up; those supplies really do make a difference for the big families.

A ke parë ndonjëherë si u ndezin sytë kur marrin paketën?

Well said, Christos. A notebook and a pen really give life, I know it from our own children back in the day. And the connection with the Dormition gives even deeper meaning to the whole thing. Did you go to the village fair? How was it this year?

Yes, Vasilika, that's right. In Elbasan, we did something similar last year, and a mother told me that with those new notebooks, her son no longer complained about the old bag. I really liked that they connected it to Uspenia – a real blessing. Do you know if they gave him school bags along with the materials in Severouralsk?
