On October 3, 2026, the first Orthodox Liturgy was celebrated on the island of Negros in the Republic of the Philippines.

The service was performed for the community in the city of Dumaguete, according to the website of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese.

It is noted that on the eve of the service, on October 2, two people converted to Orthodoxy there.

Negros Island is the middle island of the Philippine Islands group, located in the center of the archipelago. Part of the Visayas island group. The population of the island is over 4.4 million people.

That's interesting news. Two people received into the Church the day before the first Liturgy in Dumaguete — must have made the service feel even more special. I wonder how the local community there is growing.

Two new people received into the Church the day before — that’s a nice touch. First Liturgy in Dumaguete on Negros must have felt pretty solid with them there. I wonder what the parish is like for the rest of the week.
