That's a good reminder. I catch myself getting worked up in traffic or arguing with the lads about the match, and it always goes better when I remember to step back and keep quiet instead of proving my point. Humility really does stop half the trouble before it starts.

Thank you, Love, for such a living example. It happens to me on flights too - especially when the truck is cut off and you are stuck in a traffic jam, and the children are waiting at home. I count to three, as the priest advised, but most often it helps when later in the evening you simply say: “Lord, forgive them and me.” And for those who are annoying, pray specifically in the evening - I haven’t tried this yet, it’s worth a try.

This also happens to me in the bread line after work, when everyone is jostling. My son is already an adult, but before he was just as capricious, and I counted those three seconds to myself. But I didn’t specifically pray for those who made me angry in the evening - only “Lord, forgive me, a sinner.” I wonder if praying like this for them helps you or just calms you down?
