PITTSBURGH, PA – On Sunday, October 4, 2026, His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, together with His Grace Bishop Andrei of Cleveland, Auxiliary Bishop of the Episcopate, participated in the services held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the occasion of the meeting of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America.

His Grace Bishop Andrei presided over the service of Orthros (Matins), chanted by the cathedral’s chanters under the leadership of Amy Hogg. His Grace then concelebrated the Holy and Divine Liturgy with the assembled hierarchs, while His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel assisted at the Holy and Divine Liturgy.

The pan-Orthodox Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Greek Orthodox Archbishop of America and Chairman of the Assembly of Bishops. I am glad that Bishop Andreas chanted the Matins with the cathedral singers. Ms. Amy Hogg is well-known for her work there. I pray that such joint Divine Liturgies continue in our area.

Yes, Andreas did a good job in Orthros, I heard that too. Amy Hogg has been holding the bar up there for years now. How do you see it, will something similar happen in our Cyprus?

I am also glad that Andreas is head of Orthro with Amy Hogg, I know that her singers work very precisely. Here in Larissa we have done some joint services with neighboring parishes, but nothing that big yet. Do you think that such meetings help unity more or are they just formal?

Yes, Amy Hogg and her team are known for their accuracy, I've heard that too. Here in Cyprus we have small common services with Latins and Maronites, but not so pan-orthodox. I believe that they help unity when there is also cooperation in the daily life of the parish, otherwise they remain a bit formal. What do you think, would you like something bigger to happen in Larissa?
