Pope Leo: Bishops should offer clear teaching

In a letter to the bishops of Latin America and the Caribbean on the occasion of the third centenary of the canonisation of their patron, Saint Turibius of Mogrovejo, the Pope reflects on episcopal ministry in the light of the rite of welcoming a bishop into his cathedral church. He warns them against “abandoning the flock”, and urges them to nurture their interior life.

Bishops staying close to their people instead of drifting off makes sense. The bit about not abandoning the flock and tending to their own interior life stood out to me. Our own bishop here in Ottawa often says something similar when he visits parishes.
