Very often a person begins to turn to God when he finds himself in a difficult life situation and does not know how to cope with it alone. One of these difficult and turning points in the lives of some people is imprisonment. Who are the condemned and what do they ask from the Lord? We are talking with Archpriest Svyatoslav Yerenkov, rector of the Bishop's Compound - the Church of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir in the city of Ulyanovsk, assistant to the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Ulyanovsk region for organizing work with believers.

— Father Svyatoslav, do you remember your first day in the colony? Can you tell us about it?

— I remember my first impression: keys, electric locks, a pass system... The first day broke stereotypes, because, on the one hand, the colony is something inaccessible, and we got there relatively calmly. It is interesting that Father Sviatoslav's first impression of keys and locks changed the stereotype so quickly. It turns out that there are ordinary people with whom you can simply talk and pray. And since 2016, such assistants began to be appointed all over the country - it is good that it has become systematic.
