Ordination of a Deacon in I. M. Corfutranslated

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the day on which our Holy Church celebrates the beginning of Indiktus, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios officiated at the Holy Pilgrimage Church of Saint and Wonderworker Spyridon, in the city of Corfu. At the end of Orthros, His Holiness ordained the monk Palamas Melissinos as a subdeacon and then, during the Divine Liturgy, performed his ordination as a Deacon. The new Deacon, aged 29 and a graduate of technological education, is a monk of the historic Holy Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos of Platyteras, Corfu, whose abbot is His Holiness Archimandrite Chrysostomos Koutsouris and which, under his spiritual guidance, is being re-manned and spiritually revitalized. Together with His Eminence, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Platyteras as well as many hieromonks of the spiritual family of the new Deacon, who came to Corfu to participate in this special day of his life, concelebrated.
