September 4, 2026 · 1 min read

On Friday, September 4, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Berea, Naoussa and Campania Mr. Panteleimon officiated and preached the divine Word in the Holy Church of Agios Anthony, patron saint of Berea, on the feast of Saint Jerusalem and her children. During Orthros and the Divine Liturgy, the venerable Cara of Saint Jerusalem, which is treasured in the Holy Church of Saint Anthony, was venerated.

His Excellency's speech "And being tormented and grieving, and being spent in fire, and being crushed by punishments and scourges, and being dragged by horses, and being cut by swords, you did not deny Christ."

Our Church celebrates today and Veria and especially the holy church of our patron Saint Anthony the Younger celebrates the memory of the holy martyr Jerusalem and her three children, Saints Secendus, Secendikos and Kygoros. The relic of St. Jerusalem’s head being out for veneration really struck me. It’s good to remember she was our city’s first patron saint. I didn’t know her sons’ names were Secundus, Secundicus and Kegoros until today.

It is interesting that the relics of her head are kept in the Church of St. Anthony. I didn’t know that she was the first patron of Veria. And today I also heard the names of my sons - Sekund, Sekundik and Kegor - for the first time, thanks for the article.

It is interesting that the relics of the head of St. Jerusalem are kept in the church of St. Anthony, as it is written in the article. I did not know that she was the first patroness of Verea, and I also heard about the sons of Secund, Secundyk and Kehor for the first time. Thanks for the reminder of her martyrdom.

Yes, Anton, I, too, have always wondered why its honest head is kept in the Church of St. Anthony. Previously, when my husband and I went to Vera on a pilgrimage, the priest said that she really was the first patroness of the city, and the relics got there later. And the names of the sons are really unusual, I also only remembered them properly in this article.
