With simplicity, the memory of Saint Sophia and her three daughters—Faith, Hope, and Love—was celebrated in the poor village of Magukie in Central Tanzania. The Divine Liturgy concluded at the Holy Church of Saint Sophia, with the blessing of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Arusha, Archbishop Agathonicus. The Divine Liturgy was served by priests from the Archdiocesan District of Iringa.

Before the conclusion, the Veneration of the Holy Icon took place, followed by a holy sermon, in which the life, unwavering faith, and witness of Saint Sophia and her daughters were proclaimed.

After the Divine Liturgy, a love-feast was served, offered by Mr. Hercules Demosthenes for the repose of Stella, as well as for her parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. We express our warm and heartfelt thanks to Mr. Hercules Demosthenes for his generous offering, as well as to all donors and benefactors who, with their love and support, contribute to the Hierapostolic work in Tanzania.

Thanks for the story. It is interesting that the liturgy was served by priests from Iringa, and not local ones. And Mr. Iraklis Demosthenous, who gave a meal in memory of Stella and all his relatives - is he from Cyprus or from Greece? In Samara, we also often feed everyone who came after the service; it’s very homely.

It is interesting that the service was conducted by priests from Iringa, not the local ones. Mr. Iraklis Demosfenous hosted the post-communion meal in memory of Stella and all her parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles— it is good that he remembers them so far away. After the liturgy, we also often have a common meal together, especially on major feasts.
