The Holy Icon of Panagia Bimatarissatranslated

One of the most precious theological relics that adorn the I.M.M. Vatopediou is the main icon of the Monastery, the so-called Panagia Vimatarissa, as it is placed in the place of the throne of the holy step.

This icon is also called "Ktitorissa", because it was found at the time of the three founders of the Monastery.

I have already seen the icon of Panagia Vimatarissa in the altar in photos, but the fact that it is also called Ktetorissa because it was found exactly at the time of the three founders was new to me. Interesting. Thanks for the article.
