The Sunday Gospel Reading of Matthew XIVtranslated

The Gospel Reading of the 14th Sunday of Matthew: Matt. kv´ 2-14 (6-9-2026) The Lord spoke this parable: The kingdom of heaven was likened to a human king, who arranged marriages for his son. And he sent his servants to call those invited to the weddings, and they did not want to come.

Again he sent other servants, saying: Say to those who were invited: Behold, I have prepared my best, my oxen and the victuals are prepared, and everything is ready; look at the weddings.

And those who were negligent went, one to the same field, and the other to his trade; but the others, holding his servants, reviled and abused him.

But when the king heard that, he was angry, and you dispersed his troops, killed those murderers, and set fire to their city.

This Sunday we will again hear how the king invites to the wedding, and the people justify themselves with fields and trade. I was particularly impressed that at the end they call both bad and good from the roads, but still check that they are dressed properly. I wonder what the father will say about this "wedding garment" on Sunday after the service.

Yes, Christ, that's exactly what has always struck me about the fields and trade - people are busy with their daily work and miss the invitation. About the wedding dress, I hope the father will say something simple, because I think that it is like a clear conscience and the desire to change, and not just an external change. What do you think, will it remain after the service to ask him?

The part about the guests ignoring the second invitation to go tend their fields or run their business hits close to home. I catch myself doing the same thing some Sundays when the garden needs weeding or I’ve got papers to grade. Looking forward to what Father says about that wedding garment; I’ve always pictured it as the effort we make to show up ready, not just showing up.
