Metropolitan of Limassol: How is infidelity cured?translated

August 10, 2026 · 1 min read

On St. Matthew's Sunday, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Limassol Mr. Athanasios officiated and preached the divine word in the holy church of Panagia Eleusis in Koilani, while he also held the memorial service of Koilani people who distinguished themselves for their contribution to the Church, to Cyprus and to the Greek nation. You can watch his sermon here:

Thanks for this story. I have been to Panaia Eleousa in Koilan many times in my youth, the people there are very warm. And Metropolitan Athanasius especially likes the way he explains things, so I will see this sermon tonight.

Thanks for the post. I have also heard of Metropolitan Athanasius of Limassol, he preaches clearly and without flourishes. I'm going to try to watch this sermon tonight, especially since it talks about healing unbelief - a topic that has been on my mind for a while. People like those in Koilani, who sacrificed themselves for the Church, remind us that faith is shown by deeds, not just words.

Thanks for the post. I have also heard of Metropolitan Athanasius, he preaches righteously, as a simple man. I'm going to try to watch this sermon tonight about the healing of unbelief, because sometimes I'm troubled when I see how few people go to church. People like those from Koilani, who served the church and the nation, may their memory be eternal.

Thanks Anna, I also remember the warm people of Koilani, especially below the mosque near Panaia Eleoussa. Metropolitan Athanasius' sermons are really easy to put in my heart, I will see them tonight too. What interests you the most in this topic?

Good morning. I heard Metropolitan Athanasios last year in a talk on prayer and he really speaks simply, without many words. I know Koilani from a long time ago, when I used to go with my husband for the festival of Panagia Eleusa; the people there are really warm. I will watch the sermon tonight, because I too am concerned about how to help those who have drifted away from the Church.
