Orthodox calendar, August 12 St. Mc. Fotie and Anichit (+306) They suffered in Nicomedia (Bithynia - Asia Minor) during the persecution started by Emperor Diocletian against Christians.

Saint Anichitus was a captain in the imperial army. Hearing that he was a Christian, the emperor tried to convince him to sacrifice himself to the pagan gods, but Saint Anichit faced him with great courage, for which he was subjected to torture.

Seeing the torments to which he was subjected for his love for the Christian faith, Photius, the grandson of Saint Anichitus, confessed in front of everyone that he too was a Christian.

For his confession, he was imprisoned alongside Saint Anichit. Despite attempts to persuade them to renounce the Christian faith, Saints Anichitus and Photius remained steadfast in their faith and suffered martyrdom after numerous tortures to which they were subjected.

They were thrown into a fiery furnace, but passed to the eternal, by a divine miracle, without being touched by the flames.
