With particular brilliance and spiritual emotion, on September 27-28, 2026, the commemorative and pastoral events took place at the Holy Metropolitan See of Rethymnon and Aliopatamos, to which our Venerable Metropolitan Anthimos responded by his presence.
On Sunday evening, September 27, 2026, in the Hall "Pantelis Prevelakis" (Rethymno Avenue), His Venerability honored with his presence a grand concert titled "Famous Lightning," organized to mark the 160th anniversary of the historic Arkadian Volunteer Corps. The event was attended by the Choir of Psalts "Cretan Masters" and the Choral and Orchestral Ensemble of Traditional and Byzantine Music "Paul Blassios," performing hymns and traditional songs dedicated to the Martyrs and Heroes of Arkadia. The evening's opening speech was given by His Venerability, Metropolitan of Rethymnon and Aliopatamos Prodomos, while our Metropolitan concluded the evening with a heartfelt sermon and, in closing the event poignantly, sang a traditional song that moved the large audience and conveyed timeless messages of memory and hope.
