The Patriarch of Bulgaria Daniel walked in the footsteps of the "Miracle of Rila" and climbed to an altitude of 2282 meterstranslated

At the ridge of Rila, at an altitude of 2282 meters, the Patriarch of Bulgaria arrived on foot. Daniel as part of the pilgrimage route "The Miracle Worker of Rila", using the help of a horse in some parts of the route.   The final destination was the point "Seven Lakes" where the pilgrims gathered with the Primate of the Orthodox Church in Bulgaria performing the consecration ceremony.

The pilgrimage began on August 1st and is held in memory of the transfer of the holy relic of Saint John of Rila – in 1469 – from Tarnovgrad via Sofia to the Holy Monastery.

The Patriarch Mr. Daniel, who is participating in the pilgrimage for the third time, climbed on foot to an altitude of 2282 meters and reached Lake "Babreka", which is the third highest lake in the country. According to established tradition, the consecration ceremony took place there.

His Beatitude was accompanied by the Bishop of Branitsi, Mr. Ioannis, the Bishop of Agathopolos, Mr. Ierotheos and clergy of the Sofia Metropolis.

Pope Daniel really walked up to 2282 meters, that's admirable. Last year, I was on a similar pilgrimage in the mountains with my husband, and already at 1500 meters I was really short of breath, so I know what that means. I would like to know how it helped his horse in the more difficult sections.
