Metropolitan Teofan of Moldova and Bucovina consecrated on Tuesday the "Saints Peter and Paul" Chapel of the Iași Penitentiary.

The service was attended by the director of the prison, chief commissioner of prison police Marius Adrian Cernat, father Cristian Antonescu, coordinator of prison priests from the Romanian Patriarchate, archpriest Florin Călugăru, father Gheorghe Șurpănelu from the "Eternity" Cemetery in Iasi, prison priests from the region of Moldova and representatives of the National Administration of Penitentiaries.

The point Metropolitan Teofan made about addiction robbing people of freedom, even outside the walls, really stuck with me — we've got plenty of that struggle right in our own neighborhoods.
