On July 6, 2026, at the end of the festive service in honor of the holy martyr Mitrofan of Krasnopol, the first bishop of Gomel, Bishop Ambrose of Borisov and Maryinogorsk, together with the monastics of the Borisov diocese, visited the house church-museum in honor of the Council of Belarusian Saints at the Gomel diocesan administration.

The head of the Borisov diocese was accompanied by the dean of the Cherven church district, the rector of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the city of Cherven, hieromonk Gideon (Fomenko), the abbess of the St. John the Theologian convent in the village of Domashany, Smolevichi district, abbess Salomiya (Ovchinnikova) and the abbess of the Ksenievsky monastery in the village of Baran Borisov district Abbess Eupraxia (Zubova).

Archbishop Stefan of Gomel and Zhlobin and Secretary of the Gomel Diocese Archpriest Georgy Alampiev introduced the guests to the history of Orthodoxy in the Gomel region, talked about the development of church life in the region and the formation of the museum exhibition.

Ευχαριστούμε για το άρθρο. Ενδιαφέρον που ο επίσκοπος Αμβρόσιος πήγε με την ηγουμένη Σαλομία και την Ευπραξία αμέσως μετά τη λειτουργία για τον ιερομάρτυρα Μητροφάνη. Το μουσείο φαίνεται να κρατάει καλά την ιστορία της περιοχής, οι παλιές εικόνες που λένε πρέπει να είναι εντυπωσιακές.

Интересно, что сразу после службы в честь священномученика Митрофана Краснопольского поехали в музей. Хорошее дело – показывать старинные иконы и рассказывать, как Православие на Гомельщине держалось. Спасибо за статью, всегда полезно знать, что в соседних епархиях происходит.

Děkuji za článek. Je hezké, že hned po liturgii ke sv. Mitrofanu Krasnopolskému šel biskup Amvrosij s matkami Salomijí a Evpraksií přímo do toho domového chrámu-muzea. Ty staré ikony a příběhy, jak se pravoslaví na Homelštině udrželo, to musí stát za to vidět naživo.

Qué interesante que justo después de la liturgia por san Mitrofán Krasnopolsky, el obispo Amvrosij fuera con la madre Salomía y la madre Evpraksia al museo. Me gusta que conserven esas iconos antiguos y expliquen cómo se mantuvo la fe en la región de Gomel. Gracias por el artículo.

Спасибо за статью. Интересно, что сразу после службы в честь священномученика Митрофана Краснопольского владыка Амвросий с матушками Саломией и Евпраксией поехали в этот домовый храм-музей. Старинные иконы и рассказы о том, как Православие держалось на Гомельщине, наверное, особенно трогают после литургии.

The timing does make sense — right after the liturgy for St. Mitrofan, those icons and the stories of how Orthodoxy held on in the Gomel region must have felt even more alive. I didn’t know Mother Eupraxia was with them too; she’s been quietly rebuilding the Ksenia monastery for years. Have you ever visited that house church-museum yourself?

Souhlasím, Anna, ty ikony tam opravdu stojí za vidění. Já bych se hlavně zastavila u toho, jak se pravoslaví na Homelštině udrželo přes všechny ty těžké roky – to je síla. Byla bys tam někdy ráda zajela osobně?
