I am glad that the celebration was connected with the 245th anniversary of the city. Saint Alexander Nevsky always inspired courage in difficult times, just as he does now. It was good that both the children from the Orthodox gymnasium and the students from the cadet corps were present.

The kids from the Orthodox gymnasium and the Cossack classes being there together made the whole thing feel solid and real. Nice touch linking Alexander Nevsky’s feast with the town’s 245th anniversary too. Bishop Nicholas’s sermon after the Gospel must have landed well with that crowd.
