"The man who takes the cross, casts himself from himself, receives so much grace and so much blessing. Therefore, he receives the power of resurrection, for joy has come to all the world through the cross," said Metropolitan Theophan of Moldova and Bukovina on Sunday before the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

"When a man tries to cast himself from himself, renouncing his own vision so that the other can express his word and thinking, then he discovers a truth which perhaps you have experienced in your life: when you take a step back, you feel a spiritual joy."

"It is hard to do, for pride does not let you, but once you have done it, you feel a certain spiritual joy because you see how things begin to settle into their proper place," added His Eminence.

His Beatitude served Sunday at the Parish of "Holy Trinity" in Straja, commune Târcău, Neamt county, where he dedicated the church in the presence of ten local priests and many faithful.
