With the blessing of Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, on October 1, the day of celebration in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Healer,” prayer services will be held in the churches of the Belgorod diocese for the healing of children with serious illnesses and for their parents. The rite of prayer singing includes petitions for the healing of sick children, for the granting of strength and patience to parents and doctors. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill blessed the performance of such prayer services: “I give my blessing on the day of the celebration of the icon of the Mother of God “Healer”, which takes place on October 1, to establish, with inclusion in the church calendar (months of words), special prayers for the healing of children with serious illnesses and for their parents, with the performance of prayer services in the churches of the Russian Orthodox Church,” the Primate of the Russian Church noted in the resolution Orthodox Church. The High Hierarch also blessed the establishment of special veneration of the image of the Mother of God “Healer” in prayers for the healing of children with serious illnesses.
