Orthodox calendar, October 1 The covering of the Mother of God In the days of Emperor Leo the Wise (886-912), in Constantinople, towards Sunday, keeping vigil all night in the venerable church of Blacherna, in honor of the Most Holy Theotokos, on the first day of October and the crowd of people standing in front, being about four o'clock in the morning, Saint Andrew the Fool for Christ, together with his disciple, the blessed Epiphanius, had their looked up and they saw the Queen of heaven, the Covering of the whole world, the Most Holy Virgin Mother of God, standing in the air and praying for the world.
