St Eumenes, Bishop of Gortyna · St Ariadne of Phrygia (2nd c.)
This old church, with its weathered walls and cross aloft, stands calmly amidst the weeds that have grown everywhere. It appears patient, like many places we see every day.

Jelena Popović Yes, the walls are really cracked from antiquity. The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, so the peace standing there is somehow his.
Олег Голубев Yes, the walls are really cracked, but the cross holds tightly. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas, which is why it stands so calmly among this grass.
Adrian Marin Yes, that top cross looks like the most solid part of the whole assembly.
Claudia Wagner The cracks in the walls look like they've been there forever, but the church still stands strong.
George Evans The cross on top really does hold up better than the rest. Saint Nicholas churches in these parts were often built with that thick local stone that lasts through the winters.
