☦ Optina Pustyn - Kaluga region Optina Pustyn is an Orthodox monastery near Kozelsk in Russia. In the 19th century, Optina was the most important spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church and served as a model for a number of other monasteries, including the nearby Shamordino Convent.
