☦ Optina Pustyn - Kaluga region
Optina Pustyn is an Orthodox monastery near Kozelsk in Russia. In the 19th century, Optina was the most important spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church and served as a model for a number of other monasteries, including the nearby Shamordino Convent. It was especially famous as a center of Russian Orthodox eldership.

Оптина пустынь — православный мужской монастырь недалеко от Козельска в России. В XIX веке Оптина была важнейшим духовным центром Русской Православной Церкви и послужила образцом для ряда других монастырей, в том числе для расположенного неподалеку Шамординского женского монастыря. Он был особенно известен как центр русского православного старчества.
