1) Peter, the Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen strangers of the dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2) according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification by the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: grace and peace be multiplied to you. 3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy hath begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4) to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, 5) which by the power of God are being preserved through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6) In him rejoice, now a little, if necessary, having been sorrowful, in various temptations, 7) so that the trial of your faith may be much more precious than gold (which is tested by fire), and may be found to praise, and glory, and honor, and glory in the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8) Whom, although you do not see, you love; in whom now, although you do not see, you believe; believing, you rejoice with unspeakable and glorified joy, 9) achieving the goal of your faith - the salvation of souls. 10) What kind of salvation did the prophets seek and test, who foretold the grace coming for you, 11) testing, which or what time the Spirit of Christ designated in them, foretelling the passions of Christ that He would have, and the subsequent glorifications. 12) It was revealed to them that which did not serve them, but served you - that which was now announced to you by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, into which the Angels desire to penetrate. 13) For this reason, having girded the loins of your mind, being sober, fully trust in the grace that is given to you in the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14) As children of obedience, not conforming to the lusts that were in your former ignorance, 15) but, like the Holy One who called you, be holy in all your conduct. 16) For it is written: “Be holy, for I am holy” (Lev. 11:44). 17) And if you call upon the One who impartially judges the deeds of everyone as a Father, then spend your time [in a foreign land] with fear, 18) knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible silver or gold from your vain way of life, handed down to you from your fathers, 19) but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb spotless and spotless, 20) foretold beforehand. the foundation of the world, which was revealed in the last times for your sake, 21) who through Him became believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and your hope may be in God. 22) Having purified your souls in obedience to love, in brotherly love, in simplicity of heart, love one another more and more attentively, 23) regenerated not from corruptible seed, but from incorruptible, from the word of God, who lives and abides forever. 24) “For all flesh is like hay, and all the glory of men is like the flower of hay: the hay is dried up, and its flower is fallen. 25) But the Word of the Lord endures forever” (cf. Ps. 102:12–13; Isa. 40:6–7). This is the word that was preached among you. 1) So, putting aside all malice and all deceit, and hypocrisy, and envy, and all slander, 2) like newborn babies, love intelligent, simple-minded milk, so that from it you may grow into salvation; 3) and if so, you have tasted that the Lord is sweet. 4) Coming to Him, a living stone, rejected by men, but chosen and venerable from God, 5) you yourselves, like living stones, build up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, [to] offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6) For it is contained in the Scripture: “Behold, I lay in Zion a cornerstone, chosen, precious; and he who believes in Him will not be put to shame” (Isaiah 28:16). 7) Therefore, to you who believe, honor, but to those who do not believe, the stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner: 8) and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense. They stumble at the word, they do not believe, which is what they were assigned to do. 9) You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy tribe, a people for his own inheritance, that you may proclaim the powers of Him who called you out of darkness into His wondrous light; 10) who once were not a people, are now the people of God; [once] not worthy of mercy, but now worthy of mercy. 11) Beloved, I ask you, as strangers and strangers, to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul, 12) let your fellowship among the pagans be good, so that for the reasons for which they slander you as evildoers, considering you for your good works, they may glorify God on the day of visitation. 13) So, be submissive to every human creature, for the sake of God: whether to the king, as the supreme one, 14) or to the princes, as those sent from him to punish evildoers and praise the good, 15) for such is the will of God, that by doing good we should stop the mouths of the ignorance of foolish people, 16) as free people, and not as if they were making freedom a cover of evil, but as servants of God. 17) Honor everyone, love the brotherhood; Fear God, honor the king. 18) Slaves, obey your masters with all fear, not only the kind and humble, but also the harsh. 19) For this is grace if someone, in conscience, for the sake of God, endures sorrows, suffering unjustly. 20) For what is the glory if you, having sinned, endure and receive blows? But if, while doing good, you endure [affliction] patiently, this is grace before God. 21) For you have been called to this, for Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, so that we might follow His steps. 22) “But He committed no sin, and no guile was found in His mouth” (Isaiah 53:9). 23) When he was cursed, he did not curse; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but betrayed Himself to those who judged Him unjustly. 24) He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we, having died to sins, might live in righteousness: “By His stripes you were healed” (Isaiah 53:5). 25) For you have gone astray like wandering sheep, but are now turned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. 1) In the same way, let the wives be subject to their husbands, so that those of them who do not believe the word will be won without a word by the cohabitation of their wives, 2) seeing your pure life in fear. 3) Let their [decoration] be not the external braiding of hair, not the surrounding of gold or the cult of elegance in clothing, 4) but the innermost person of the heart in the incorruptibility of a calm and modest spirit, which in the sight of God is wealth. 5) So once upon a time the holy women who trusted in God adorned themselves, subordinate to their husbands. 6) How Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him master. You are her daughters, doing good and not being afraid of any embarrassment. 7) In the same way, husbands, live together with understanding, giving honor to your wives as weaker vessels, and as joint heirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered. 8) Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, brotherly-loving, merciful, modest, humble; 9) not repaying evil for evil, nor curse for curse; but on the contrary, blessings, for you were called to do this in order to receive a blessing as an inheritance. 10) “For whoever wants to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and let his mouth not utter evil [speeches]; 11) let him turn away from evil and let him do good, let him seek peace and let him follow him, 12) because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their petition, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil” (Ps. 33:13-17). 13) And who will harm you if you are zealous for good? 14) But if you endure anything for the sake of righteousness, blessed are you. Do not be afraid of them and do not be embarrassed. 15) Sanctify the Lord Christ in your hearts; being always ready to satisfy everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. 16) But have a good conscience with modesty and fear, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame by the things for which they slander you. 17) For it is better to suffer while doing good (if it pleases the will of God) than to do evil. 18) Because Christ also died once for our sins, the righteous for the unjust, to offer us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit, 19) in which He came and preached to the spirits in prison, 20) they were once unbelievers, when they waited for God's patience, in the days of Noah, when the ark was being built; in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 21) So now you are saved by baptism of a similar type, not the washing away of carnal uncleanness, but the testing of a good conscience before God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 22) Who is at the right hand of God, having swallowed up death, that we might become heirs of eternal life; having ascended into heaven, he subdued the Angels, and the Authorities, and the Powers. 1) So, Christ suffered in the flesh, and you arm yourself with the same thought; for he who suffered in the flesh ceased to sin, 2) so that, no longer according to human lusts, but according to the will of God, he might live out the time remaining in the flesh. 3) For it is enough that in the past time you did the will of the pagans, those who walk in immorality, lust, wine drinking, feasting, drunkenness and unlawful idolatry. 4) That is why they are surprised that you do not agree with them on the same merger of depravity, and they slander you. 5) They will give an account to the One who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6) For for this reason the gospel was preached even to the dead, so that they, having been judged according to men in the flesh, might live according to God in the spirit. 7) The end of everything is approaching. Therefore, be wise and watchful in prayer. 8) First of all, have mutual, long-lasting love for each other, because love covers a multitude of sins. 9) Be hospitable to one another without murmuring. 10) Everyone who has received whatever grace they have received, serve one another as good stewards/distributors/ of the manifold grace of God. 11) If anyone speaks, [speak] as the words of God; If anyone serves, [serve] as according to the strength that God bestows, so that in all things God may be honored through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 12) Beloved! Do not consider the heat that will tempt you to be strange, as if something new had touched you; 13) but, sharing in Christ’s passion, rejoice, and in the revelation of His glory you will rejoice and be glad. 14) If they slander you because of the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for everything that pertains to the glory, honor and power of God, and His very Spirit, will rest on you. 15) Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or a slanderer, or a greedy person for the things of others. 16) If he is a Christian, let him not be ashamed; let him glorify God in His name. 17) For it is time for judgment to begin from the house of God. If it [begins] with us first, what [is] the end for those who do not believe God’s Gospel? 18) “And if the righteous can hardly be saved, where will the wicked and sinful appear?” (Prov. 11:31 LXX). 19) So, let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to the faithful Creator in good deeds. 1) I implore the elders that you have, a companion in seniority and a witness to Christ’s passion, and a participant in the glory that is to be revealed: 2) shepherd the flock of God that you have, tending it not under compulsion, but willingly and in a Divine manner, not for vile gain, but voluntarily, 3) and not as rulers over the clergy, but from with all my soul becoming an example to the flock. 4) And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive an unfading crown of glory. 5) Likewise, young men, obey your elders. Nevertheless, find favor with each other through humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (Prov. 3:34 LXX). 6) Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may lift you up during the visitation, 7) casting all your care on Him, for His [work] is to care for you. 8) Be sober and watchful, for your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, circles, looking for someone to devour, 9) whom you resist, [being] firm in the faith; knowing that the same suffering befalls your brothers who are in the world. 10) May the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, Himself, you who have suffered a few, perfect, establish, and place you on a sure foundation. 11) To him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 12) Through Silvanus, your faithful brother (as I think), I wrote briefly, begging and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand. 13) The church that is in Babylon, chosen together [with you], and Mark my son, greet you. 14) Greet each other with a holy kiss. Grace to you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
