You know that only that person is “blessed” who, having despised “the way of sinners, ... meditates on the law” of Your commandments day and night (Ps. 1:1-2). Teach me, a sinner, with all my heart “with fear and trembling” to faithfully “serve” (Ps. 2:11) You, and “hear my voice” (Ps. 3:5), humbly calling on You (Ps. 4:2); So, mercifully “hear my words” (Ps. 5:2) and “in Your wrath” (Ps. 6:2) do not leave me when I am lost, lest the ancient enemy, “like a lion, snatch away my soul... when there is no one to deliver” (Ps. 7:3) and one to save. But You, Lord, - for “Majestic is Your name” in heaven and “throughout all the earth” (Ps. 8:2), - turn back “my enemy, that he may stumble and perish before You” ( Ps. 9:4), so that he cannot catch my soul in fiery nets, - and “brimstone and the scorching wind” ( Ps. 10:6) do not destroy me. “For the suffering of the poor and the sighing of the poor, arise” (Ps. 11:6), “look and hear me, O Lord” (Ps. 12:4), because You are the advice of “the poor and his hope” (Ps. 13:6). Grant me, my God, to act “blamelessly and do righteousness” (Ps. 14:2), may the grace of Your mercy be “part of my inheritance” (Ps. 15:5). “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings” (Ps. 16:8), because You are “my fortress, my stronghold and my refuge” (Ps. 17:2–3). “Cleanse me from secret” (sins), and keep Your servant from deliberate ones” (Ps. 18:13–14), Lord. “Send me help from the Sanctuary” (Ps. 19:3) and “fulfill my heart’s desire” (Ps. 20:3). “Save me from the mouth of the lion” (Ps. 21:22) and “guide me in the paths of righteousness” (Ps. 22:3) of Yours, so that I can “climb up to Your mountain” and “stand in Your holy place, with innocent hands and a pure heart” (Ps. 23:3–4). “Do not remember the sins of my youth and my crimes” (Ps. 24:7). “Do not destroy my soul with sinners” (Ps. 25:9) and “do not give me up to the mercy of my enemies” (Ps. 26:12); but mercifully “hear the voice of my prayer” (Ps. 27:2), and heed the one who calls upon “the glory of the name” (Ps. 28:2) of Your holy one, and “have mercy on me” (Ps. 29:11). Hear, “Lord, so that, trusting in You, I will never be ashamed” (Ps. 30:2), and forgive me “my crimes” (Ps. 31:5). “Let Thy mercy be upon me, O Lord, for I trust in Thee” (Ps. 32:22), and “deliver me from all my dangers” (Ps. 33:5), “say to my soul: “I am your salvation”” (Ps. 34:3). Since I “rest in the shadow of Your wings” (Ps. 36:8), “grant the desire of my heart” (Ps. 36:4) and “make haste to help me, O Lord” (Ps. 37:23), God of my salvation. “Tell me, O Lord,” (when) my end “and what is the number of my days, so that I may know what my age is” (Ps. 38:5). “Hear,” O Lord, “my cry, and bring me out of the terrible pit, out of the miry swamp, and set my feet on a rock, and establish my steps” (Ps. 39:2-3). “In the day of trouble, deliver me,” “Lord” (Ps. 40:2), so that “I may enter into the house of God with a voice of joy” (Ps. 41:5), “for You are the God of my strength” (Ps. 42:2). “Do not turn away my steps” from Your path (Ps. 43:19), so that “I will love righteousness and hate iniquity” (Ps. 44:8). When You come “to judge Your people” (Ps. 49:3-4), “Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Turn away,” Merciful Master, at that hour “Your face is from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Ps. 50:3, 11-13), so that I, “like a green olive tree,” may be received “in the house of God” (Ps. 51:10) in the holy oil and “rejoiced there with Jacob and rejoiced with Israel” (Ps. 52:7). “In Your name save me and in Your power judge me” (Ps. 53:3). “Do not hide from my prayer” (Ps. 55:2), but “have mercy on me” (Ps. 55:2). “Send from heaven Thy mercy and Thy truth, and put to shame those who seek to devour me” (Ps. 57:4); “Break their teeth in their mouth and break the jaws of lions” (Ps. 57:7). You are “my God, who has mercy on me” (Ps. 58:18), “save with Your right hand” (Ps. 59:7), and I will hide “under the shelter of Your wings” (Ps. 60:5), when “You will reward each according to his deeds” (Ps. 61:13). “My soul thirsts for You” (Ps. 63:2), “hide me from the plans of the treacherous” (Ps. 63:3). When all flesh comes to You" (Ps. 65:3), do not turn away Your mercy from me" (Ps. 65:20), but "make your face shine upon me" (Ps. 66:2). “God is our God for salvation” (Ps. 67:21); Make my path prosperous, O God, “let not the abyss swallow me up, let not the abyss of its mouth close over me” (Ps. 68:16). “Be my help, O Lord, do not delay” (Ps. 69:6), because “in You, O Lord, I trust; let me never be ashamed” (Ps. 70:1). When you “judge Your people” (Ps. 71:2) and “those who withdraw from You will perish” (Ps. 72:27), may I not be “the oppressed being put to shame” (Ps. 73:21): for You are the righteous Judge, “You humiliate one and exalt another” (Ps. 74:8), - “You are terrible, and who can stand before You?” ( Ps. 76:8 ) “You are a God who works wonders” ( Ps. 76:15 ). Just as You fed Your people with bread in the “wilderness” and “gave them what they desired” (Ps. 77:20, 29), so may Your goodness satisfy me, who am hungry, and may “Thy bounty” meet me (Ps. 79:8). “Bread of tears” (Ps. 79:6) and the bitterness of sadness went out during the tribulation and “bring forth sweetness from the rock” (Ps. 80:17) in order to receive inner delight for me. “God” (Ps. 81:8), considering (the affairs of) the righteous and sinners, “The Most High above all the earth” (Ps. 82:19), “hear my prayer” (Ps. 83:9), have mercy on me and bless me: Lawmaker; “forgive my iniquity,” and “cover all my sins” (Ps. 84:3), and “save Your servant, O my God, who trusts in You” (Ps. 85:2). God, who established His Church “on the holy mountains” (Ps. 86:2), “incline Your ear to my prayer” (Ps. 87:3). “Let Your hand remain” (Ps. 89:22) with me, so that “I do not return to corruption” (Ps. 89:4); but “deliver me from the snare of the fowler and from the pestilence that destroys at midday” (Ps. 90:3, 6), so that I, being “planted in the house of the Lord, may bloom like a date palm and grow like a cedar in Lebanon” (Ps. 91:13–14), “for many days” (Ps. 92:5). Be “my defense and the stronghold of my refuge” (Ps. 93:22), my God, “the great King over all gods” (Ps. 94:3). When you “judge the world according to righteousness, and the nations according to Your truth” (Ps. 95:13), may I enjoy the eternal “light that shines on the righteous, and joy” (Ps. 97:11) with the upright in heart, may “Thy right hand and Thy holy arm” save me (Ps. 97:1). Thou who sits “on the cherubim” (Ps. 99:1), make me “walk before Thy face with a shout” (Ps. 99:2), “in the integrity of my heart in the midst of my house. Let a corrupt heart depart from me,” but may “my eyes” (turned) “to Thy faithful” saints, and may I live with them, “walking in the way of integrity,” when You, in judgment, “root out from Your city all those who practice iniquity” (Ps. 100:2, 4, 6, 8). "God! Hear my prayer, and let my cry come to You. Do not hide Your face from me; in the day of my sorrow, incline Your ear to me (Ps. 101:2-3).” Be merciful to me in all my affairs, “deliver my life from the grave,” fill “my desire with good things” (Ps. 103:4–5). He who looks down “on the earth and it shakes” (Ps. 103:32), who brought forth “His people in joy and His chosen ones in joy” (Ps. 104:43), help me “to maintain judgment and do righteousness at all times” (Ps. 105:3); lead me “out of darkness and the shadow of death” (Ps. 107:10), so that “with a ready heart I will glorify and sing praises to You” (Ps. 107:2, 4). Do with me a sign for salvation “for the sake of Your name: for Your mercy is good” (Ps. 109:21), and “in the splendor of holiness” (Ps. 109:3), “in the council of the righteous and in the assembly” (Ps. 110:1), “my righteousness will endure forever and my horn will be exalted in glory” (Ps. 112:9). And when You command me to “rise the poor from the dust and lift up the needy from the clay” (Ps. 112:7), “I will bless You from now on and forever” (Ps. 114:26) and “I will walk before You in the land of the living” (Ps. 115:9). “Loose my bonds” (Ps. 116:7), “for great is Thy mercy” (Ps. 116:2). When “in trouble I cry to Thee, O Lord, hear me” (Ps. 117:5), (giving me) space. “Show me, O Lord,” so that I may live and “keep the paths of Your statutes to the end.” Give me understanding, and I will keep Your law, and keep it with all my heart. I have gone astray like a lost sheep” (Ps. 119:33–34, 176); having sought, “deliver my soul” (Ps. 119:2). “Guard my going out and my coming in” (Ps. 120:8), so that “my feet may stand at the gates of Your Jerusalem” (Ps. 121:2). “To You I lift up” my soul and “my eyes, He who dwells in heaven” (Ps. 123:1): “Deliver my soul from the snare of those who catch” (Ps. 123:7), so that I “do not stretch out my hands to iniquity” (Ps. 124:3). “Let my mouth be full of joy and my tongue full of singing” (Ps. 125:2). “Do not leave me in shame” (Ps. 127:5) and “bless me from Zion, so that I may see the prosperity of Jerusalem” (Ps. 127:5); “Let all who hate Zion be put to shame” (Ps. 129:5). “Let Thy ears be attentive to the voice of supplication” (Ps. 129:2) of Thy servant, O Lord. Let not “my heart be lifted up and my eyes not be lifted up” (Ps. 131:1), but let me remain in humility, “until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place” - the God of “Jacob” (Ps. 131:5). Where You have “commanded blessing and life forever” (Ps. 132:3), there I will lift up “my hands to the sanctuary and bless You” (Ps. 134:2), Who will “judge His people and have mercy on His servants” (Ps. 134:14). “God of gods and Lord of lords” (Ps. 136:2–3), “I weep” (Ps. 136:1) and “I worship before Your holy church” (Ps. 137:2); “Test me and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts and guide me on the everlasting path” (Ps. 139:23-24). “Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked, keep me from oppressors” (Ps. 139:5). “Let my prayer be directed like incense before You” (Ps. 140:2), Lord. “Bring my soul out of prison, that I may glorify Your name” (Ps. 142:7), Lord. “Hear” me, O Lord, “according to Your truth, and do not enter into judgment with Your servant. Hear me quickly, O Lord, so that “my spirit does not fail” (Ps. 142:1–2, 7), - since You are my God, “My mercy, my refuge and my Deliverer” (Ps. 143:2). You are “great and praiseworthy, and Your greatness” (Ps. 145:3) has no end. “Rise up the bowed, loose the prisoner, open the eyes of the blind” (Ps. 146:7–8), Creator of “Jerusalem, O Lord” (Ps. 146:2). When you “strengthen the ropes of the gates” (Ps. 147:2) of Yours, may I dwell within with Your sons. How “the angels and all Your armies” praise You (Ps. 149:2) in the kingdom of heaven; so I, rejoicing with them with glory in the “assembly of the saints” (Ps. 149:1), may I praise and glorify “with loud cymbals” (Ps. 150:5) Your holy, glorious and reigning name throughout the endless centuries of ages.
