Matthew 27:1. “When the morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people had a meeting concerning Jesus, to put Him to death;” "Ch. 27. Matthew 27:3. “Then Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He was condemned, and repented, and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,” Matthew 27:4. “saying: I have sinned by betraying innocent blood. They said to him: What is that to us? see for yourself." Matthew 27:5. “And throwing away the pieces of silver in the church, he went out, went and hanged himself.” “The desire and hunger for silver is from the devil. Judas Iscariot is proof of this. He turned near the very Life of the Hypostasis, the Lord Jesus Christ, and meanwhile he rejected the Lord and clung with his heart to the silver and hungered for it, in blindness, like life. But the hunger for silver brought him to the point of betraying Belly to death and brought him himself to a shameful death (See: Matthew 27:3–5). Beware of coveting in any way, under any plausible pretext of money. He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver (Eccl. 5:9), because only the Lord can satisfy our heart. - Daily experiments on people show that they are not satisfied with silver, but everyone is hungry and hungry, everyone says: little, little, we are poor - or even: we have no money. This is how they serve the devil - both through love of money and lies. Desire to have less silver, so that your heart does not cleave to it and place hope in it, for the rich, according to the Apostle, trust in perishing wealth (1 Tim. 6:17). Love to give your money to the poor or as a loan - and it will bring you God’s blessing. Silver is for people, not people for silver. Desire to have less silver so that your hope is in God. Do not regret that some spiritual children, patients, customers leave you and thus take away their silver from you; look: if you regret this, then you do not want to save human souls, but to get money from them; It is not the salvation of human souls, for the salvation of which Christ died (Wed: Rom. 14:15), you thirst, but your own enrichment, not like Christ Jesus, but your own (Wed: Phil. 2:21). This is a grave sin. This is Betrayal of Christ. Your silver, like Judas’s, will perish (Acts 8:20). Do not offend the Life of God by hoping for decay - for that which has no life in itself. It is not always possible for someone to have abundance of his life from his goods (Luke 12:15) - you see: life is not in the abundance of goods. Why desire abundance? Give us our daily bread (Matthew 6:11), just this day. It doesn't take much sense to understand this. Everyone sees how little a person needs to maintain his bodily life. And fire, cramped conditions, extreme torment and some kind of disappearance from the desire for silver and from stinginess - aren’t they telling us too clearly that in the hunger for silver there is death, not life” [10, 154]. Matthew 27:35. “And those who crucified Him divided His garments, casting lots;” “If during the festive divine service they take off your clothes of glory, do not grieve and do not be annoyed by this, but rejoice: for they completely took off the Savior’s clothes (See: Matt. 27:35) and carried us naked to the Cross for our sake. Because of the sacred robe, do not lose love for your neighbor and peace in your heart - take care of the splendor and purity of the robe of your soul. Enlighten the robe of my soul, Light-Giver, and save me. What is it if the material clothes are light, but the soul is dark?! He insulted the memory of the late archpriest; slandered him! [11, 226]. Matthew 27:51. “And behold, the veil of the church was torn in two, from top to bottom; and the earth shook; and the stones dissipated;" Matthew 27:52. “and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised again.” Matthew 27:53. “And coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they entered the holy city and appeared to many.” “It was terribly difficult for all nature at the hour of death of the God-man: it was not in vain that the whole earth shook, the stones were scattered, the sun darkened, the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the departed saints were resurrected, and coming out of the tombs, after His resurrection they appeared to many (Matthew 27:51-53). But nature held firmly with the hand of the Almighty and is still holding on... waiting for the end, when the human race has turned into a stinking corpse and there is nothing for it to exist, when the wheat is finally ripe and ready for the final harvest...
