We have already written to you and to my master, the most honorable tribune Marcian, but you have not tried to send us letters from him, nor are you writing them yourself. With all this, remaining true to ourselves, we do not cease to constantly remember you and write to you as much as possible, which we do now, testifying to your boundless gratitude and pleasing you for the zeal that you show and for the dangers that you endure. In this way, you prepare for yourself great glory and, through short-term tribulation, achieve endless rewards in heaven, incomparably exceeding the greatness of your very merits: “the sufferings of this present time are not worth anything in comparison with the glory that will be revealed in us” (“For the passions of this present time are not worthy of the glory that desires to be revealed in us” (Rom. 8:18).
