From the collection of the Synodal Library of the 16th century. No. 853, l. 5–7, from where this article was already published in “Materials for the History of Russian. churches", part I. pp. 40–41. In terms of its content, it is nothing more than a new edition of the list of renounced books, known under the name “59 rules of the Council of Laodicea,” already in the list of the 14th century. (precisely in the parchment. Pogodinsky Nomocanon; see in Letop. Arch. Com. vol. I, section I, pp. 26–27). The main features of this edition are the indication of the “Prayer Book of Metropolitan Cyprian” as a source for the article, and a rather long list of fortune-telling, astrological, etc. books. (See notes below text). There is no reason to doubt the correctness of the inscription of the synodal list with the name of Metropolitan Zosima. For pseudonyms so common in your ancient writing, the names of the Apostles, Councils and St. were used. Fathers (especially when it was necessary to put into circulation a new edition of the old text); and Zosima was known among his contemporaries and in the next generations as a heretic: this, perhaps, explains the circumstance why in other copies the “Tale” is not inscribed with anyone’s name (for example, in the Chudovsky collection of the late 15th century, No. 269, l. 509–510, the discrepancies of which are indicated below the text). On the other hand, it is now undoubtedly known that Metropolitan Zosima denounced the Judaizers, among other things, for holding and distributing “marked” books (see previous issue); This means that there was an urgent reason for him to publish a list of such books, supplemented mainly by books on magic and astrology, the appearance or, at least, the proliferation of which undoubtedly began in our country along with the heresy of the Judaizers. (Cf. East Russian Church. Macarius, vol. VI, p. 81). The index lists the New Testament apocrypha: Petrov's Proclamations: The Apostolic Daily Practices, the Epistle to Barnabas, the Questions of John Theologos, the Questions of Bartholomew, the Gospel of Barnabas, the Gospel of Thomas, the Vision of Paul. The hedgehog died seven times is not on the Pogodinsky list. The hedgehog about tremors has been added to the Pogodinsky index. In the Pogodinsky index there is, without a doubt, the Laodicean Council, to which the article is adopted in the inscription (see legend); but Metropolitan Zosima could also be talking about the Moscow Council of 1490. and cursed adds the Pogodinsky index and ends with this. Bird of Miracle. The adjective "bird" can refer to both the previous "gray" and the following "squeak". This increase is almost the speculation of a later copyist; according to the synodal list, the words: “everything is written from the Prayer Book of Metropolitan Cyprian” are most naturally attributed only to the closest liturgical decrees, which, indeed, are found in Cyprian’s letters. See above, No. 30 and 32. The “Prayer Book” has also been preserved (unfortunately, not completely) with clear signs of belonging to the times of Metropolitan Cyprian, and perhaps to him personally. This Prayer Book (the current Service Book with some articles from the Trebnik) is now in Moscow. Typographical Library (No. 1278/129, parchment, 16 days on 189 pages). It, by the way, contains; 1) “Water baptism, performed by venerable stones” - with the remark: “Fyodor, Bishop of Rostov, offered it all. Sergei Patriarch Eulogius" (l. 73) and 2) the well-known "scroll of ordination" or the holy teaching to the newly ordained priest (see No. 7), set out, with some cancellations, on behalf of Metropolitan Cyprian ("I am a humble Archbishop Cyprian, the Metropolitan is not an imam"; cf. above p. 110). In his edition of the “scroll,” Cyprian gives instructions that are almost literally similar to those read at the end of Zosima’s index, namely: “bring water, wine, prosphora into the altar, and do not bring anything else, neither kanun, nor kutya, nor beer” (l. 179). but this is falsely written and added to the Miracle.
