Glorification of the creative greatness and power of the Lord. Sir.43:1 The greatness of the heights, the firmament of purity, the appearance of heaven in a glorious appearance! 1. Whoever is satisfied with the sight of the glory of the Lord (Sir.42:26), who does not come into rapturous emotion at the sight of the greatness of the heights, purity, firmament of heaven, at the sight of the sky in the manifestation of all its glory. Sir.43:2 The sun, when it appears, announces them at sunrise: a wonderful creation, the work of the Most High! Sir.43:3 At noon it dries up the earth, and who can stand before its heat? Sir.43:4 They light the furnace for smelting work, but the sun scorches the mountains three times more powerfully: breathing with the flame of fire and shining with rays, it blinds the eyes. Sir.43:5 Great is the Lord who created it, and according to His word it runs its course hastily. Sir.43:6 And the moon in due time serves as an indication of the times and a sign of the age: Sir.43:7 from the moon - indication of the holiday; its light diminishes when it reaches fullness; Sir.43:8 the month is called by her name; it grows marvelously in its change; Sir.43:9 this is the head of the highest orders; she shines in the firmament of heaven; 9 . Like the radiant eyes of the highest orders, i.e. beings of a higher order, the moon shines in the firmament of heaven. Sir.43:10 The beauty of the sky, the glory of the stars, the brilliant adornment, the ruler on the heights! 10. The beauty of the sky, the glory of the stars, the brilliant decoration of the entire firmament is a manifestation of the glory and power of the Lord on the heights. Sir.43:11 According to the word of the Holy One, the stars stand in order and do not tire in their guard. Sir.43:12 Look at the rainbow and glorify Him who created it: it is beautiful in its radiance! Sir.43:13 She embraces the sky with her majestic circle; the hands of the Almighty stretched her out. Sir.43:14 By His command the snow will soon fall, and the lightning of His judgment will quickly flash. Sir.43:15 The treasuries are opened and clouds fly out of them like birds. Sir.43:16 With His power He strengthens the clouds, and the hailstones are broken; Sir.43:17 At His sight the mountains shake, and by His will the south wind blows. 17. The south wind, driven to Palestine from the hot Arabian deserts, is considered as one of the manifestations of the formidable divine justice against wicked humanity. For the effects of the southern sultry wind, see Art. 23. Sir.43:18 His voice of thunder makes the earth tremble, and the northern storm and whirlwind. Sir.43:19 He pours down snow like winged creatures flying down, and his descent is like locusts descending; Sir.43:20 The eye is amazed at the beauty of its whiteness, and the heart is amazed at its fall. Sir.43:21 And like salt, He scatters frost on the ground, which, when frozen, becomes pointed. Sir.43:22 A cold north wind blows, and ice is made from the water: it is spread on every reservoir of water, and the water is clothed, as it were, in armor; Sir.43:23 devours the mountains, and burns the desert, and scorches the grass like fire. 23. Describes the effects of the burning sun and the burning south wind. Wed. 24 Art. Sir.43:24 But fog serves as a quick healing for everything; the emerging dew cools from the heat. Sir.43:25 By His command the Lord tames the abyss and plants islands on it. Sir.43:26 Those who sail on the sea talk about the dangers on it, and we are amazed at what we hear with our ears: Sir.43:27 For there are extraordinary and wonderful things there, a variety of all kinds of animals, kinds of monsters. Sir.43:28 Through Him everything successfully reaches its destination, and everything is held together by His word. Sir.43:29 We can say many things, and yet we will not comprehend Him, and the end of the words: He is everything. 29. No matter how much we study the things and phenomena of the visible and spiritual world, we are not able to comprehend all the power, wisdom and glory of the Lord. In the end, we will comprehend only one thing, that He is everything - both the Creator and the never-sleeping Provider of the world. Sir.43:30 Where will we get the strength to glorify Him? for He is above all His works. Sir.43:31 The Lord is terrible and very great, and His power is marvelous! Sir.43:32 Glorifying the Lord, exalt Him as much as you can, but even then He will be more excellent; Sir.43:33 And, magnifying Him, add strength: but do not labor, for you will not comprehend. Sir.43:34 Who saw Him and will explain? and who will glorify Him as He is? 34. See example to Sir.42:17. Sir.43:35 Many things are hidden that are much greater than these; for we see a small part of His works. Sir.43:36 The Lord created everything, and gave wisdom to the pious.
