From him descended the Thracians. The Thracian country is the one where Byzantium was later created, which is currently called Constantinople, or Constantinople. In the Russian Bibles, among the sons of Japheth, there is also an eighth son, named Elias, but he, I think, was not the son of Japheth, but was his grandson, the son of his son Jovan. Ham had four sons, who are also mentioned in Holy Scripture: 1. Canaan. From this the Canaanites subsequently descended. 2. Khus. From him came the Ethiopians and the pillar-builder Nevrod. 3. Mesrain, from whom are the Egyptians. 4. Food. From him came the Troglodytes, a people similar and equal to the Ethiopians. Ham also had other sons, whom, as they were not noble, the Holy Scriptures do not mention by name. The Amsterdam chronograph recalls one of them named Typhon, who killed his brother Mesrain, who founded a kingdom in Egypt. From these sons of Shem, Japheth and Ham, after the pandemonium and division of languages, countless children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born, and many nations arose, of which I have no need to count them all, for there is not enough time, and there will be no spiritual benefit from this for me.
