The holy martyrs Manuel and Theodosius were from eastern countries. Seeing how the pagans daily put Christians to death, they, having agreed among themselves, decided to die for Christ in order to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Having made such a decision, they went to the ruler of their country and along the way they asked many why he was putting Christians to death, and when they appeared before the ruler, they boldly confessed Christ, calling themselves Christians. With such boldness and courage they amazed not only those who were with the ruler, but also himself. The governor ordered them to be taken and imprisoned, and the prison guard was ordered to strictly guard them. After several days, the governor ordered the saints to be brought from prison to him and began to convince them to renounce Christ and sacrifice to idols, but they did not want to listen to him, but, on the contrary, they themselves tried to deviate him from the veneration of idols. Then he first ordered them to be hung on a tree and planed along the ribs, then he ordered them to be removed from the tree and placed on sharpened tridents, and finally, after all this torment, he gave the order to cut off their heads.
