These holy martyrs suffered under the Gothic king Ungeric during the reign of the Roman emperors Julian, Valentinian and Gratian in 2150. While they, being Christians, were performing divine services and glorifying God in their churches, Ungerich sent his servants, who, at his command, set fire to the churches and burned everyone in them, numbering 308 people. After this, if they met a Christian bringing an offering to the church, they seized him, interrogated him, and if he confessed his faith in Christ, he was immediately thrown into the fire, and thus, instead of offerings, the bodies of Christians were brought to Christ. These bodies of the holy martyrs were collected by the wife of another Gothic king, named Alla, a Gothic by birth and a devout Christian 2151. Having transferred the reign to her son 2152 and taking the elders with her, she moved from place to place until she settled with her daughter Duklida in the country of Syria 2153 . After this, she called her son to her, and when he came, she returned with him to Gothia, and gave the relics of the saints to her daughter, who, during the reign of Valentian and Theodosius, came to Cyzicus 2154 and gave part of the relics in this city for the consecration of the church. Returning to Gothia, Saint Alla was stoned along with Agathon and thus suffered a martyr's death, and Duclida died peacefully, several years after the death of her mother. It is believed that the Syrian country here refers to the Roman country, probably present-day Romania.
