The Monk Maron chose for himself the exploits of a bloodless life. For this purpose, he climbed to the top of a mountain, which was once revered by some of the pagans, found a pagan temple there that had already been abandoned and, dedicating it to God, began to live in it 1389. Subsequently, he built a small hut for himself, but used it little. Sick by nature himself, he gave way to other sick people who came to him in large numbers. And God the Ascetic, with His grace, strengthened the holy ascetic and, through his prayers, healed those who came to him for healing. Soon the monk became known for healing fever, fever and many other diseases with prayer alone, and also casting out demons. During his life, he founded many monasteries and through feats of fasting made many monks pleasing to God. Thus, diligently striving in virtue, Saint Maron healed at the same time both the bodies and souls of people. Having suffered many different ailments, the monk, after a short illness, left this life and went to the Lord in peace 1390. This mountain was located near the city of Kirra in Syria, two days' journey from Antioch in the Euphrates diocese.
