You will please [the Lord] when you fulfill His commandments with love, and from here your love for Him will appear. So He Himself says: He who has My commandments and keeps them, he loves Me (John 14:21). His commandments are not burdensome. For what is easier than loving each other? This is what He requires of us: This is My commandment, that you love one another (John 15:12). So, you will love Him and please Him when you love your brother, that is, every person, as you love yourself, otherwise you will appear ungrateful to Him, since He, as you have already heard, was sentenced to eternal death by the judgment of God, and delivered you. He serves Christ who, having rejected the heavy satanic yoke, burdened with sins, bears the good yoke of Christ, according to His word: take My yoke upon yourself (Matthew 11:29). The good yoke of Christ means His commandments are holy and easy, for His commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3). What is easier than to love?.. He commands us to love one another: this I command you, that you love one another (John 15:17). And from love all good deeds will flow, like streams from a source, for love is the root of good deeds (see: 1 Cor. 13: 1-8, 13). He who has true Christian love bears the yoke of Christ and fulfills His commandments, and thus serves Him.
