At the end of the days of purification for her son or daughter, she must bring a one-year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young dove or turtle dove for a sin offering at the entrance of the tabernacle of meeting to the priest; he will bring it before the Lord and cleanse her, and she will be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the law regarding one who gives birth to a male or female child. But if she is not able to bring a lamb, then let her take two turtle doves or two young doves, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering, and the priest will cleanse her, and she will be clean. You see where the custom of mothers coming to church on the fortieth day after birth originates. This is the commandment of God Himself. The New Testament Church retained this rite of purification of the mother in childbirth because our Lord Himself was brought to the church by His Most Pure Mother on the fortieth day to fulfill the law; and also because now, as then, our mothers both conceive and give birth to us in sins. Chapter 13. Leper laws. Chapter 14. Sacrifices for lepers. Chapter 15. When you come into the land that I am giving you and reap its harvest, then bring the first sheaf of your harvest to the priest; he will present this sheaf before the Lord, that he may find favor with you. The Lord grows everything, therefore the duty of gratitude on the part of man requires that he bring the firstfruits of every fruit before the Lord and confess before Him His goodness and benefits to us sinners. If our villagers do this, great: they are fulfilling God’s commandment. Thus the firstfruits of grapes and grape wine and other fruits are offered to the Lord; the firstborn of animals, humans, etc. Here everywhere we confess God as the Creator and benefactor of ours and the whole world. Chapter 24 The law regarding the oil of the lamp: the oil from the olive tree is pure and strained. Chapter 25 Laws on the Sabbath and Jubilee. 18th century and further. Fulfill My statutes, and keep My laws and fulfill them, and you will live peacefully on earth; and the earth will yield its fruit, and you will eat to your fill... If you say: what shall we eat in the seventh year, when we neither sow nor gather our produce? I will send My blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it will bring fruit for three years... 23 v. The land should not be sold forever, for the land is Mine: you are strangers and settlers with Me. The Lord is the Almighty Creator and Ruler of our land and ours. If we do our will as obedient slaves, He gives His blessing to the earth, so that it nourishes and saturates us with all its gifts. Let us holyly fulfill the will of God. Chapter 26 Promises to those who keep the law and threats to those who forsake it. 3 tbsp. and further. If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments and do them, then I will give you the rains in their season... and the trees of the field will yield their fruit... and you will eat your bread to the full, and you will live in safety on the land; I will send peace to the land [yours], you will lie down, and no one will bother you, I will drive out fierce beasts from the land [yours]... and you will drive out your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword; five of you will drive out a hundred, and a hundred of you will drive out darkness... I will look upon you [and bless you], and I will make you fruitful, and I will multiply you, and I will be steadfast in My covenant with you; 14th century and further. If you do not listen to Me and do not fulfill all these commandments... I will send upon you horror, stunting and fever, from which your eyes will become weary and your soul will be tormented, and you will sow your seeds in vain, and your enemies will eat them up; I will set my face against you, and you will fall before your enemies, and your enemies will rule over you, and you will flee when no one pursues you... [Verse.] 19. I will make your heavens like iron, and your land like brass... and your land will not yield its growth, and the trees of the land [of yours] will not yield their fruit. [Verse] 22. I will send wild beasts against you, which will deprive you of your children, destroy your livestock, and diminish you, so that your roads will be desolate. 29 Art. And you will eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters (punishments increase with unrepentance and persistence in sins). [Verse] 36. To those who remain among you I will send timidity into the hearts in the land of their enemies, and the sound of a shaking leaf will chase them, and they will flee as from a sword and fall when no one pursues. It is so good to serve God and so dangerous and scary to leave Him! In these words you see the Creator of the earth, all animals and all the fruits of the earth. To punish man for disobeying the will of God, God uses them with His instruments: the earth does not give its fruit; beasts eat man and his livestock. Chapter 27. About vows and tithes. Moloch is an ancient pagan deity (god of fire) of the Ammonites. The idol of Moloch was a copper statue of a man with a bull's head, with an empty inside and outstretched hands, on which children sacrificed to him were placed.
