Jer. 43:2–3. And the speech of Azariah the son of Josiah (Ί ωσίου) 222 and Johanan the son of Kari and all the men of vision, “said to Jeremiah: pray to the Lord for us” (οἱ εἰπόντες Ἰ ερεμία δεήθητι ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν πρός Κύριον 223 ). “Rekosha” says to “Jeremiah”: You lie, the Lord our God did not send you to us to say: Do not enter Egypt to live there. But Baruch the son of Neriin is inciting thee against us, so that in the hands of Chaldeist he will kill us and bring us to Babylon. That is, it was not by the will of God that you told us this, but Baruch advised you to tell us this, doing what was pleasing to the Chaldeans, since they are in power. Tell me, why? Have you not experienced his affection at all times? If there is nothing else, then, being free to go wherever he wants, have you decided to stay with you? Jer. 43:6. And Jeremiah the prophet. What were these for? So that no more evil comes out. Look at the first illness: back to Egypt. How they constantly bring evil upon themselves. However, God did not abandon those who had reached this point; He did not say: what is the use? So they went to Egypt. But look what Jeremiah prophesies through the mouth of God. Not paying attention to the grief they caused, he, like a child-loving father, accompanies his reckless son everywhere. It was not in vain that after this he added the book of Baruch. Jer. 43:9. Take some large stones for yourself. Lays stones in bricks (ἐν τῷ πλινθίφ). Always does something sensual to convince, to create more fear. But he could neither pardon them nor convince them. Jer. 43:10. Thus says the Lord of hosts and has given. God commanded him to put stones in the place of brick 224 - this exactly means: “in the brick” so that it would look like a throne, and - to cover it with clay. Thus he foretold the coming of Nebuchadnezzar and the fact that, having taken the city, he would set up his throne in this place. He commanded him to do this so that they would not speak in vain. Seeing that (he) did this in Egypt, right next to the royal palaces, where the king of Egypt sat (on the throne), they could no longer say that in order to (gain) the favor of the Babylonian king, his coming was announced. To (gain) favor, he would speak more to those present than to flatter those who were absent and heard nothing. Jer. 43:10–11. “And he will lay down his weapon before him” (Καί θ ή σει τὰ ὄπλα αὐτοῦ ἐπάνω αὐτοῦ) 225 and he will raise up his weapon against you, and will go in and smite the land of Egypt. This is not clear in Greek. What he wants to say is that he should put his tent, which kings usually pitched in the middle of the camp, here. Instead of the words: “he will lay down his weapons,” the Hebrew (text) says: “he will pitch his tent.” The idea is the same in both, since it is obvious that the king’s weapons were in his tent. Jer. 43:11. And he will set up his throne. Then, so that you do not consider (this) a guess, he also indicates the place where he will put the stones. Jer. 43:12. And it will burn with fire. He also speaks about their gods, so that they do not deviate into wickedness; but nothing was done. Jer. 43:12. And I will move “and tear up the land of Egypt” (φθερεῖ γῆν Αἰγύπτου), just as the shepherd “tears” (φθερ ί ζει) his robe 226. That is, the old one; so easily Nebuchadnezzar will take over Egypt. Jer. 43:13. And he will crush the pillars of Ilioupolis, “the pillars of Aenon” (τούς Ἐνών) and will burn the houses of the Egyptian gods with fire. Aenon is the name of a city near Taphna. Perhaps it was called Ilioupolis in Greek, and Aenon in Egyptian. In Marshallian. sp. Ωσαιου instead of the usual in sp. translation of 70 types: Μαασσαιου Maassiev. In ancient sp. Greek There is no translation for these words. Ἐπὶ τοῦ τόπου τῶν πλίνθων, i.e., at the place of making bricks, which corresponds to the meaning again πλινθειον - brick factory. Instead, in ancient sp. translation of the 70, with which Slav agrees. B., reads: καὶ θήσει αὐτοῦ τὸν θρόνον ἐπάνω τῶν λίθων τοότων and will set up his throne on these stones.
