Гимн 39. Благодарение и исповедание с богословием, и о даре и причастии Св. Духа 312 .
Machine translation from the original · Show original
For my sake you appeared on earth from the Virgin,
Before all ages, remaining invisible,
And he became flesh and appeared to be a man,
Cloaked in impregnable light,
And everyone considered him limited,
You're completely inconceivable
Which no word can express.
The mind, straining, grasps (You) through love,
And cannot hold back, overwhelmed by fear,
And he searches again, burning inside.
Having imagined (You) for a moment in Your radiance,
He runs away with trepidation and rejoices with joy.
For human nature cannot bear that
To clearly contemplate all of You, my Christ,
Although we believe that we perceive all of You
Through the Spirit, which You give, my God,
And Your most pure blood and flesh,
By partaking of which we confess that we hold
And we taste You, O God, inseparably
And unmerged; for You are not involved
Corruption or defilement, but you also tell me
Thy imperishable purity, O Word,
And you wash away the filth of my vices,
And you drive away the darkness of my iniquities,
And you cleanse the shame of my heart,
And you refine the coarseness of (my) anger,
And you create light in me, before I was darkened,
Making me both 313 beautiful
And shining me with the light of immortality.
And I'm amazed and on fire inside,
Wanting to bow to You.
When I, unfortunate one, think about this,
Then, oh miracle, I find You in myself
Abiding, moving, speaking
And then making me speechless
From amazement at the unapproachable glory.
So, horror and bewilderment embrace me,
Since it contains everything
I see in my heart the contents.
But, oh, your wonderful mercy, my Christ!
How immeasurable is Your condescension, O Word!
Why did you come to my poverty?
And how he entered the desecrated church
You, who dwell in the unapproachable light, my God?
How do you keep it unburnt,
Being a fire intolerable to mortal nature?
What will I create worthy of Your glory?
And what can I find for such great love?
What I bring to You is such glory
And who glorified me unworthy with honor?
For I, whom men do not think worthy to look upon,
And (even more so) neither speak nor share a meal
They don’t want me at all to be miserable,
You who nourish every breath and being,
Impregnable for the Seraphim,
Creator, Creator and Lord of all,
You not only see, and speak to me, and feed (me),
But also Your flesh in an essential way
He made me worthy to hold and eat,
And drink Your all-holy blood,
Which for my sake you poured out, you who were slain,
Having made me a minister and a liturgist and a secret man
These (Mysteries), me whom You know,
Omniscient, before He created the eyelids
And before he produced anything invisible,
For You made what is visible afterwards,
(You know how) a sinner, a fornicator, a tax collector,
A robber who became a suicide 314,
Despiser of goodness, worker of iniquity
And a transgressor of all Your commandments.
So You know it's true.
How will I appear before You, my Christ?
How can I approach Your table?
How will I hold Your most pure body,
Having hands completely defiled?
How can I sing to You? how I will intercede for others,
Having no good works from faith,
No love for You, no boldness,
But being a debtor yourself, as You know,
Many talents, many iniquities.
The mind is perplexed, the tongue is powerless,
And I can’t find any word for the Savior,
To tell of the works of Your goodness,
Which You have created on me, Your servant.
For inside me there is a fire burning,
And I can't remain silent, I can't stand it
Great burden of Your gifts.
You, who created birds chirping with (different) voices,
Grant me the unworthy word too,
So that everyone, in writing and not in writing,
I told about what You did to me
By infinite mercy, my God,
And according to Your love for mankind alone.
For it is beyond the mind, terrible and great,
What did you give me as a wanderer?
Unlearned, poor, lacking in boldness
And every rejected person.
My parents (my parents) did not have natural love for me.
My brothers and friends all mocked me;
When they claimed to love me, they were completely false.
Relatives, outsiders and worldly leaders
Moreover, they turned away from me, unable to bear to see (me),
The more [they wanted] to destroy me with their iniquities.
I have often wished for sinless glory,
But I haven’t found her in real life yet.
For worldly glory, as I am convinced,
Without (any) other act there is (already) sin.
How many times have I wanted to be loved by people
And become close and frank to them,
But none of the well-meaning people tolerated me.
Others, on the contrary, wanted to see and know me,
But I ran away from them as from doers of evil.
So, all this, Master, and much more,
What I can neither tell nor remember,
You, by hunting, made me a prodigal,
In order to extract me from the abyss and worldly darkness
And the terrible charm of the pleasures of this life.
Good (people) ran away from me because of (my) appearance,
And I ran away from the evil ones at my own discretion.
For they loved, as it is said, worldly fame and wealth,
Magnificent clothes and pampered morals.
[About myself] I don’t know and don’t know what to say and tell You,
For I am afraid to speak and write about such (things),
So as not to fall into [contradiction] with your words and sin,
And what is written falsely will (then) be indelible.
When someone called me to deeds of madness
And the sins of this truly lovely world,
My heart was squeezing inside
And it was as if he was hiding, ashamed of himself,
Being firmly restrained by Your, of course, Divine hand.
I also loved everything else in life,
What pleases the sight and delights the larynx,
And adorns this corruptible body;
But vile deeds and voluptuous desires
You have blotted out from my heart, my God,
And he put hatred for them into my soul.
Although I was drawn to them by my will,
But You made it so that either my desires were impossible to fulfill,
Or, on the contrary, my actions were unwanted, [which was] the greatest miracle, of course.
According to Your Divine vision, You separated me from everyone:
From the kings, princes and rich people of this world. Many, many times, when I was inclined (already) by will towards these (things),
You yourself did not allow (my) permission for any of this to take place.
Others who spoke to me about glorification and enrichment in life,
With hatred, Lord, I hated from the heart,
So I never even entered into conversation with them;
And (then) on the contrary, they became enraged and beat me severely with sticks.
Others reproached and slandered me before everyone.
Calling me a worker of all iniquity
And wanting to turn me away from the right path.
For I avoided (these) deeds so as not to be slandered,
And they slandered me so that I would come to (such) deeds.
Those who promise to give (me) the glory of this world
You gave me, my Savior, to answer in this way:
If you had, I said, all the glory in the world,
And on your head there would be a royal crown,
And on your feet are purple shoes,
And over all this you would suddenly make me master,
He himself became a simpleton, wanting to be my slave;
Then to your crafty wisdom
I would not at all join and condescend in this life.
But what charter would contain Your benefits?
And Your great blessings that You have done on me?
For if I were given ten thousand tongues and hands,
Then (and then) I could not say or describe everything,
Because their abyss, of course, is countless,
And they are unimaginable in the greatness of their glory;
And I am exhausted with my thoughts and my heart is torn,
What I cannot tell about You, my God.
For when I think, unfortunate, what I have done,
And how many (times) did you help me, what did you save me from, and from how many great troubles did you, my Savior, save me with humanity,
Without remembering the evils I have done,
But, as if he had done much and great good
And clean from the holy mother - the font,
He treated me like that, he respected me like that,
So he decorated me with royal clothes;
Then I am completely overwhelmed with trepidation and go into a frenzy of joy,
I become speechless and greatly weakened,
Since God, the Creator of the world, was given to me,
To a vile and disgusting person for everyone
People and demons, as if already done
And surpassed by committing the most obscene deeds
And these (the last ones). Alas for me, shameful and nasty! and how will I speak (else)?
Out of immeasurable compassion You united with me, Lover of mankind,
Great in integrity, (even) greater in holiness,
Incomparable in power and incomparable in glory,
And he descended from above from immeasurable heights
To the last gates of the hell of my sins,
Until the darkness of my poverty and my fallen church,
From many iniquities and the greatest negligence
Completely neglected and desecrated, -
You, who first raised me from the dead,
And He set Your Divine commandments on the stone,
And having washed, I cleansed from the mud of my vices,
And he clothed himself in a tunic of the brightest snow,
And swept away the polluted church
And having entered (into it), he began to dwell, O Christ my God!
Then You made me the throne of Your Divinity,
The dwelling place of Your unapproachable glory and kingdom,
A lamp that has within it an unquenchable and Divine light,
A vessel of truly good beads,
The field where the treasure of the world is hidden,
A spring from which those who drink never thirst, and which gives out abundant (abundant) water tenfold.
And with faith he makes those who drink (it) immortal,
A paradise that also has a tree of life in its midst,
And the earth that embraces You, inconceivable for everyone,
whom I once sought with all my heart,
Desiring to always listen to Your word.
For if even before my mind could not imagine
You are pure, being completely defiled,
Neither the eyes (could) see, nor the ears hear,
Neither my heart can perceive the Divine ascents,
But from one hearing my whole soul came into amazement,
Stricken with fear and trembling;
Even now she is amazed to see You inside of her.
And contemplating You (as if in a mirror), since You give her (to see)
Everything (Yourself) in the entire universe and everything outside it,
And on the contrary, seeing everything (You) within myself,
All that is incomprehensible in the Divine Deity (Thy),
For all the invisible and hidden,
You, unapproachable and accessible, for whom You have willed,
Just as You Yourself desired to appear [on earth] in a philanthropic manner,
(You), for the Cherubim and Seraphim and all the Angels
Impregnable and terrible with the radiance of the Divine nature, -
Among people (seeing) accessible, she completely goes into a frenzy.
But she is even more amazed at Your goodness and love for mankind,
Since You purify unclean souls and enlighten the mind,
And you embrace the earthly and material essence,
And you kindle the great flame of Divine love,
And, like fire, you cast into me the Divine desire of love,
And you prepare me to reach the third heaven,
And you make, O Savior, (able) to admire into paradise, In which I hear unspeakable and terrible verbs,
Which cannot be retold to mortals or told verbally.
To you, Christ, is due honor, glory and greatness,
And eternal power, (as) the Lord of all (the world),
With the Father and the Spirit - according to the Most Holy Nature,
Now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
that is, in the soul and in the body, outside and inside.
Here the saint (the Father) exposes himself, for those sins that in other words (hymns) he attributes to himself, as if committed by him physically, he understands, obviously, mentally (in the spiritual sense) out of extreme humility. This note, translated from Greek, is placed as in P. r. So." and in the printed edition of hymns.
