But Satan chose Judas as an instrument of betrayal, having noticed in him a strong passion of love of money. By Christ the Savior he was made one of the chosen 12 apostles, and along with them he was endowed with all grace-filled gifts, for three years he was instructed by the Savior in all truth, and at the Last Supper he was directly convicted that one of you would betray Me (Matthew 26:21). But Judas did not abandon his evil intention even then. After all this, how is he not to blame? In addition, many saints claim that Judas would have received forgiveness if he had decided to repent like the Supreme Apostle Peter, who denied Christ three times, but through repentance received not only forgiveness of his sin, but also his former apostolic dignity. However, according to the words of John Climacus, it is disastrous to experience the incomprehensible destinies of God, and whoever dares to do this is exposed to a lack of humility and a contrary quality, i.e. pride.
