Изъяснение псалма 6-го.

Ps.6:1. To the head of the choir. On eight string. Psalm of David. “At the end, in the songs of osmom, a psalm to David.” The prophetic word refers to the future state as osmy. since real life revolves around the seven days of the week; time, beginning with the first day of the week and ending with the seventh, again returns to the first day, and thus reaches the seventh; That age, which is outside this seven-day number, the word of God rightly called the last. This psalm mentions death and judgment. Why did the Prophet make such an inscription? For he says: (Ps. 6:6) “There is no one in death who will remember You, but in hell who will confess to You?” That is, the door of repentance is closed for those who leave here. And for those who in this life have not taken advantage of the medicine of repentance, it is impossible for them to bring confession of their sin to God there. These words are confirmed by the parable of the virgins. For we learn from it that the holy fools with their lamps gone out remained outside the doors of the bridal chamber, and although they struck the doors, they were sent away and deprived of entry into the chamber. The groom said to them: “Go away, we do not know you” (Matthew 25:12). Therefore, blessed David, after committing this particular sin, brings this prayer to God, asking him to heal him, because in that life the healing of repentance no longer has a place. Ps.6:2. God! Do not rebuke me in Your wrath, and do not punish me in Your anger. “Lord, do not reprove me with Your wrath; do not punish me with Your wrath.” He asks not not to be convicted, but so that God will not expose him with rage; he asks not not to be punished, but not to suffer punishment from the wrath of God. Punish me, he says, as a father, and not as a judge, as a doctor, and not as a torturer. Do not proportion punishment to sin, but dissolve justice with philanthropy. Ps.6:3. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am weak; Heal me, O Lord, for my bones are shaken. Ps.6:4. and my soul is greatly shaken; How long are you, Lord? Ps.6:5. Turn, O Lord, deliver my soul, save me for the sake of Your mercy. “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am weak.” Such words are fitting for those who have sinned. If preceded by infirmity; then sin overcomes us. If our mind is not weak, then passions will not be troubled. When the driver is strong, he skillfully turns and steers his horses; they will not rush to the sides. “Heal me, O Lord, for my bones are broken. And my soul was greatly troubled." The Prophet here calls thoughts bones. since bones are by nature hard and support the body; then in a figurative sense he called the thoughts that drive a living being bones. Their confusion, says David, outraged and shook me. Therefore, I beg you, grant me to experience Your love for mankind and receive healing from Him. “Turn, O Lord, deliver my soul, save me for the sake of Thy mercy.” Not in the form of a complaint he says: “how long,” but as a sufferer begs to hurry with help. But he added quite decently: “for the sake of Thy mercy.” “I do not trust in myself,” he says, “I do not attribute Your help to my righteousness, but I pray that You grant it through Your mercy. It is said: “turn, O Lord” in the meaning: listen to me, and do not turn Your face away from me. The image of speech is borrowed from those who, when angry, turn away and do not want to look at those who have done wrong. Ps.6:6. For in death there is no remembrance of You: in the grave who will glorify You? “For in death I cannot remember You, but in hell who will confess to You?” Therefore, I beg you to make me worthy of healing in this life. For I know that those who depart from this life with wounds will no longer be given any healing; because for them the healing of repentance has no place. Ps.6:7. I am weary with my sighs: every night I wash my bed, I wet my bed with my tears. “I am weary with my sighing, I will wash my bed every night, I will wet my bed with my tears.” I know that it is great and serious that I have sinned, but I constantly shed tears and mourn the sins that I dared to commit, and I always wash my bed, defiled by iniquity, with tears, trying to cleanse it with them, even if I receive forgiveness, I will not stop doing this. For this is what the words mean: “I will wash away” and “I will wet my bed every night.” Ps.6:8. My eye is withered by sorrow, worn out by all my enemies. “My eye is troubled with rage.” Because of Your indignation, O Lord, the very vision of my mind has become dim. For here he called the mind an eye, which is why he mentioned one eye. “I vowed in all my things.” The most painful thing for me, says the Prophet, is the reproach of my enemies. They exhaust me, weaken me, cause me premature old age. Ps.6:9. Depart from me, all you who practice iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. Ps.6:10. The Lord heard my prayer; The Lord will accept my prayer. “Depart from Me, all you who do iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.” “When the Lord heard my prayer, the Lord accepted my prayer.” Let those who do not see their own iniquities, but laugh at my sins, no longer mock me. For I have been worthy of God's favor, and what I have asked for is assured that God will not look at my sins, but will grant me forgiveness. Ps.6:11. May all my enemies be put to shame and severely defeated; may they return and be ashamed instantly. “Let all My enemies be ashamed and dismayed, and let them return and be greatly ashamed soon.” Therefore, knowing this, stop reproaching me, but, bringing to mind your own iniquities, be filled with shame, embarrassment and confusion; because God's judgment is righteous and very terrible.
