Hebrews 8:1. The main thing is what we are talking about, that is, about the priesthood and the law concerning them, it is as I said: Such is our Presbyter of Elders, who does not stand before the ark of the covenant, but such Who, having ascended, ...sat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven. Then: He Who is so exalted, Hebrews 8:2. Hebrews 8:4. For if He were in heaven, would not be... a priest, since [here] there were priests... who brought what was according to the law... gifts, understand according to the commandments of the law. After all, they served educationally and spiritually in the likeness of heavenly service, that is: all those services of the Old Testament were likeness and symbols of this ministry of the church, which in comparison turns out to be spiritual and heavenly. Look, it says...do everything according to the pattern shown to you on the mountain (Ex. 25:40). Heb.8:6. Now I have received the best service Jesus Christ than Moses, that is: Jesus gave us and Himself was - not the one in which the earthly promises were written, but the one in which the gifts of Heaven, superior to earthly ones, were written. Heb.8:7 .: For if that first [Testament] had been without reproach, then... there would have been no place found for the second. His drawback was that he condemned the external shortcomings of the body - and because of such shortcomings, independent of our will, he rejected such people who were righteous in their deeds. This second covenant was the one about which Jeremiah prophesied, saying: Hebrews 8:8–9. Behold... the days are coming, says the Lord, and I will accomplish over the house of Israel... a covenant... a new one, - not according to the covenant [not like] which I made [gave]... to their fathers in the wilderness, when I took... them by the hand, and brought them out of the land of Egypt: and because they continued not in... My covenant, not having fulfilled his commandments, then and did not do what was promised in it for the fulfillment of his commandments. Hebrews 8:10. And the covenant that I gave them says Jeremiah, not on stone tablets, as before, but on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they will reject their idols. And none of the priests will teach their citizens anymore, saying: Hebrews 8:11. know the Lord; because everyone... will know Me... from the least of them to the greatest of them. Hebrews 8:12. And I will be merciful to them, - that is, not to the uncleanness that occurs as a result of night dreams, but to the “sins” they commit according to the power of evil (acting in them) (Jer. 31:31-34).
