Hebrews 12:1. Therefore, we, who have such... we have around us, as if gathered, a cloud, a multitude of witnesses... the burden of ours, that is, the cloud of sorrows and troubles ahead of us, which will lead to the perfection of very many who have hope in Christ and die for Him, so that we do not turn out to be slow in the fight against sins, which are always ready to lead us into crime, - and with patience let us strive for the feat set before us, (prepared) not only from the persecutors, but also from the devil himself. not on people, since one of them reached a certain degree of perfection, the other did not, but let us look to the author of faith,... Jesus Christ, who became the leader and finisher our faith: that is, by the fact that He began the fight against the enemy on the Jordan, which took place in the desert (Matthew 4:1), and ended it in Jerusalem on the cross erected on Golgotha by the persecutors. So, let us imitate Him and endure persecution for Him, just as He Himself suffered, since He had joy in us and despising the shame, and then sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:3. So, think one at a time about the One who, for the sake of His love for us suffered so much from sinners, - not from those to whom He Himself was an enemy, but from those who, through their unbelief, became enemies to their souls (to themselves), and do not faint in your souls during your temptations. For, although you have hitherto been persecuted, you have not yet been killed, and although you have fought in a lesser feat, yet hitherto you Hebrews 12:4. We have not yet reached the point of laboring in blood... against sin... we have labored. He said this because they were devoted to peace and the law, were circumcised and continued to fulfill the requirements of the law. He gives them a parable as an example from the Wisdom of Solomon, saying: Hebrews 12:5–6. My son! do not neglect the teaching of the Lord and do not lose heart,... for... whom the Lord... loves, and punishes (Proverbs 3:11-12). So when you are being punished, Hebrews 12:7. endure, because as a son of ov God accepts you after repentance, which is caused in you by this punishment. For... what kind of son... is there such a son whom his father does not punish? Hebrews 12:8. If... you remain without His punishment, of which all have become partakers and became pleasing to Him, then, therefore, according to their deeds you are illegitimate children, not sons. thanks to the punishment of our fathers we...were afraid of them: how much more should we we remain in obedience through teaching Did the fathers have the spirit of the ram to live? This is because, he says, our fathers for a little time, Hebrews 12:10. at their own discretion, they punished us, because they strengthened us and admonished us regarding what was harmful to us. God works in us for the benefit of future times, in order to make us partakers of His riches. Hebrews 12:11. After all, every punishment for a while does not seem like joy or joy, but sadness, but after that it brings the fruit of good things to those who have learned, and benefit from it. And their reward is “truth”: he said this to prove that although they succeed through his teaching, it is not otherwise than with righteous reward and grace. Hebrews 12:12–13. And if you have dropped your hands and if you have weakened your knees, straighten them (Is. 35:3); that is, the paths of your feet, during the persecution of your pursuers, may they not be crooked, that is, whoever sins due to denial (of faith), so that through his healing sin would be exposed to disease. Hebrews 12:14. Peace and achieve with everyone in holiness and no one can see the Lord. Hebrews 12:15. See to it that none of you falls short of the grace of God, which has been poured out upon us through the Gospel of our Lord. And so that any root of bitterness grows upward, that is, some (heretical) sect, did not harm you, and so that... many do not Hebrews 12:16. Let none of you be prodigal and filthy, like Esau... who... sold his birthright for one piece of food (Gen. 25:31). But if the door was locked for him, it is not locked for us. Hebrews 12:17. You know that although he wanted to inherit the blessing, [but] he was rejected; for I found no place... for repentance. Esau's repentance and tears were not aimed at justifying himself (becoming righteous) more than his brother, but at gaining power over his brother. Therefore, “although he sought with many tears” (the blessing of his father in the birthright), it was not given to him. He was not looking for justification, as I said, but for the advantages of the birthright. After all, if he had asked to be greater than his brother in the kingdom of heaven, then of course this would not have been denied to him. But since he neglected what was beneficial for his soul and asked for more fat land than his brother had, he did not receive justification, which he did not ask for at all, and was deprived what Jacob anticipated from him by his faith (Gen. 27:30). Hebrews 12:18. “You didn’t start,” he says, “to... the tangible... mountain that was burning with fire... – not to the one on which there was smoke, “darkness and storm” and so on, which happened on Mount Sinai (Ex.19:16, Deut.4:41). And since the people could not endure (what was commanded), they asked that the word not continue to them (Heb.12:19-20, Ex.20:18-19, Deut.18:16). Hebrews 12:21. And the vision was so terrible [that] even Moses, called god for them (Ex.4:16, 7:1), so said: “I am in fear and trembling” (Deut. 9:19). Hebrews 12:22. But you have come... to... Jerusalem... heavenly, and to the assembly of many thousands of angels. Hebrews 12:23. And to the church that is in heaven, where you are written: in it are the “firstborn”, that is, the first and chief, and the spirits of the righteous, that is, your ancient fathers, Hebrews 12:24. And to... Testament not to Moses, but to that “New” whose Mediator is “Jesus”, who became the Intercessor between us and God. And about the sprinkling of His blood, it is better... to say to him than Abel: makes them see the superiority of Christ's death on the cross compared to the death of Abel, so glorified among them. do not be tempted by heretical sects and do not renounce this One who speaks. For if they could not escape Him Who is on earth gave the law, but they refused and asked Him to speak through Moses: if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven. This means either the voice from heaven that was on the Jordan River: “this... Son... beloved” (Matthew 3:17), or the One who spoke to him (the Apostle) on the way to Damascus (Acts 9:4). Hebrews 12:26. Whose voice, he says, shook the earth... then now... I promised, saying: a second time I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens (Hag.2:7). The same thing is expressed in the saying of Our Lord, who says: “The powers of heaven will be shaken” (Matthew 24:29). Hebrews 12:27. And the expression: “for the second time” means a change in vibration, because it will change and pass away. It is not they (heaven and earth) that will change and pass away, but the movements of those luminaries, which through deviation produce winter, and through elevation give birth to summer. Hebrews 12:28. “The unshakable kingdom,” he says, “we accept.” If paradise, which does not pass away, was promised to the righteous, then therefore the earth does not pass away, so that with the destruction of the earth, paradise, which does not pass away, would not be destroyed. And if the earth does not pass away, although everything that the earth produced after breaking the commandment will be destroyed, if this is so, then the heavens will not pass away, although the course of day and night and the seasons of summer and winter will not remain. Therefore firmly may we contain the grace through which we serve, - let us contain precisely the Gospel of grace, so that through it we may serve for Hebrews 12:29.
