Col.1:1. Paul... Apostle of Jesus Christ and Timothy are brothers [brother]. Paul wrote in his epistle the name of his brother together with the Apostle, in order to give a clear example to the priests: for although the name of the elder is higher than the brother, yet he wrote with his own names those who are lower than the Apostle. Col. 1:2. “To the saints,” he says, “and to the faithful.” He calls the baptized saints, and calls the catechumens faithful. Col. 1:3. I thank God... the Father of our Lord, and not the creator and creator of our Lord, sending our prayers for you. Col.1:4. Have we heard about your faith? which you have for... the saints... everyone, which we expect that in heaven you will receive for your offerings, not now “have heard”, but before. Therefore, from the day we... heard, we have not stopped... praying for you, so that you may be made perfect in this knowledge and in all wisdom not creatures, which some are forcing you to do, but in every spiritual understanding. Col. 1:10. And be fruitful with them and increase with them in height not in earthly knowledge, but Col. 1:11. And be strong with all your strength, that is, so that you can perform all the powers of one faith for me in accordance with the service given in the Church for the glory of God, in relation to the promises. Col. 1:12. Thank you with joy Father, who made you worthy to share in the inheritance, evident in the kingdom of heaven, which is preached Col. 1:13. And tore us out of power Satan, the seducer of souls, who serves as the darkness that seduces the body, us, understand us from Gehenna, prepared together with you for Satan, in order to lead you which the love of His Son gave you. Col. 1:14. For in Him redemption has been made for us through His cross and blood, and the cleansing of the remission of sins, that is, through the sacrament of His baptism. is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature, - He said this about the flesh, which was primarily in the mind of the One who clothed it. Col. 1:18. And He is the head of the body of the church, Just as He made Him the firstborn of the resurrection, when He was not the firstborn of those who were dying, so He made Him the eldest, as the firstborn of creatures, when He was born in the age of the Apostle. Besides; just as His divinity was subject to dishonor in His humanity, so He crowned His humanity with glory in His Divinity. Col. 1:16. In Him, he says, everything was created... visible and invisible,... everything that is, what has been accomplished and is about to happen in both worlds, - whether thrones, or dominions, either he said this about the kings of the earth, or about the thrones of the apostles. He called them lords because of the royal judicial power that belongs to them, for by their own power they both kill and save, like God; or in view of the future judgment of the apostles, who, as rulers, are condemned to eternal fire. Are they bosses or authorities? this is in the high and low and in the army of evil spirits. Col. 1:17. And He is above all, - which is equivalent to what was said: “in the beginning was the Word” (John 1:1). that is, through Him the church was planted on earth. And He is - may He be supreme in everything, for as He is first of all creatures, so He is first of all the works of lower beings. Col. 1:19. And in Him [the Father] was pleased to dwell in all the fullness of the Divinity, that is, either to the Father in the Son, or to the Son in the flesh. Col. 1:20 . And through Him to reconcile, that is, He is united with people by the same true flesh, - I have peace in His blood through the cross in Himself, and what is in heaven, and what is on earth [is], that is, higher with lower, Col. 1:21. - and you, who were once... enemies of God due to... your evil deeds. Col. 1:22. Now you are reconciled, in the members of His flesh, and through His death He made you... holy and blameless before Him, that is, they are cleansed by washing with water and stand before Him without blemish. Col. 1:23 . If, however, you remain strong... in your faith, who cleansed you with the waters of baptism, and are not shaken by temptations and persecutions, hope of the gospel, proclaimed throughout the whole world, of which I, Paul, have become... a minister. And I am not at all upset by the suffering that I have endured and continue to endure. Col. 1:24. Now I even rejoice in suffering... for you, replenish in my flesh, that is: so that for the life of the world I may carry within myself all the sufferings of Christ. After all, if he would have wanted to become excommunicated (anathema) from Christ for the lives of the crucifiers, then all the more so would he have given up the external life of his body for the pagans, namely for His body, which is the Church, that is: for the sake of the body of Christ, I wish to fill the deficiency of His Church with the sufferings of my body. Col. 1:25 . With which I became a servant, according to the mysterious economy of the Divine, who called me from the road of Damascus, fulfill the word of Christ. which was hidden from... childbirth now... is revealed to His saints, Col. 1:27. as God pleases show what wealth of glory since you look forward with hope to the glory promised to you in Him, Col. 1:28. - which we preach and proclaim to you not just for you separately, but teaching... every man in all wisdom. And this is the purpose of my labor in fasting and zealous feat in prayer and persecution, with the help of God, who works “in me with the power” (Col. 1:29), which He gives me - and the actions that are performed through me - in order to establish not one person and not one pagan nation, but so that Col. 1:28. present every person perfect in Christ.
