Since there were some who traded in the gifts of God and slandered the collections (donations) made by Paul, saying that, using the name of the saints, he was collecting for himself, the apostle begins to write against such blasphemers, presenting evidence and certificates to the Corinthians, so that those who preserved themselves from the attacks (apostasy) of the persecutors would not suffer harm from the blasphemies of the false apostles. 2 Corinthians 10:1–2. “I beg you,” he says, “by the mercy of God and the meekness... of Christ, which you still see in me, that is, although I am far from you in body, I still ask you not to falsely For if you were not shaken by the words of our detractors, then I boldly speak out against those who think that we, as it were, follow them in the flesh; that is, in addition to everything that they slander us, they also say that we collect those gifts for ourselves. 2 Corinthians 10:3. For although they march in the flesh, 24 we do not fight according to the flesh, - that is, although we collect gifts, we do not collect them for ourselves, as they say. 2 Corinthians 10:4. For the weapons of our warfare, it is our humiliation and patience in our temptations that confirm about us that we not from the flesh, but from the strength of God 25, by which we powerfully resist all these temptations. This means either that the apostles will judge the tribes of Jacob, since they heard the Gospel and did not accept it, or that they are ready to punish those who hear blasphemies against us (the apostles) and are silent, while they should have shut their mouths with a true answer against the blasphemers. 2 Corinthians 10:7. So look 27 that is, between us and between those. After all if anyone is convinced in himself that... Christ, let him consider us, at least, as himself, that as he is Christ's, so are we. I do not boast to you that I am greater than they in the power of the apostleship, 2 Corinthians 10:8. which... my Lord gave me 28, It was given to me, and not to upset you, that is, to make you perfect in your gifts, and not to enrich you with sins. And I do not know what I have done among you, for others boast of something greater, which they do not have, and less, which they also do not have, 2 Corinthians 10:9. - so as not to show me that I frighten you... with messages mine, so that you will be afraid and turn to us thanks to the miracles that we have performed and the sufferings that you have committed (suffered). He (Saint Paul) heard what was said about him, that his deeds do not correspond to his words, and his actions do not correspond to sayings, he exposes, they said, himself not as he is, and writes about himself what he actually does not have.
