((Rom.12:1)) After speaking about the exit (from the Church) of the people (Israel) and the entry of the Gentiles, he turns to the conviction and exhortation of the Romans, so that they govern themselves in meekness, humility and zeal, renew themselves in their hearts, choose good and avoid evil. I exhort you, he says, present (present) your bodies as a sacrifice - but not like foolish animals, which after slaughter are laid on the altar, but be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God through that living service that is now preached by us. ((Rom.12:2)) May you be able to examine what the will of God is, good and acceptable and perfect. ((Rom.12:3)) Again he begins to exhort and instill in them so that they do not despise each other for the sake of the fullness of the gifts of the Spirit that they had. This, he says, is by the grace that has been given to me, to all who are among you, that is, with all of you: not to philosophize more than is appropriate, so that they do not seek greater gifts than can or should be given to them, so that they are not offended because of them; but to be wise to the obedience of holiness, to maintain the humility of prudence, and to each, as God, divided according to the measure of faith. ((Rom.12:4)) After all, just as the functions of the members of the body are divided, so the grace-filled gifts of the Spirit are different and divided. ((Rom.12:5)) Since we are all one body (we are) in Christ, so we are members of each other (we are). ((Rom.12:6-9)) And although we have the grace of various gifts, they are all given to serve the Church. So, one is given prophecy according to the measure of faith. And so everyone is given various grace-filled gifts from Him alone (the Spirit), according to his need. ((Rom.12:10–15)) “Therefore warn one another with respect,” and together he expresses many other commands similar to this commandment. ((Rom.12:16-21)) In addition, he writes to them so that they behave humbly not only in relation to their teachers, but also before worldly leaders. You might be interested in:
