Already at a young age, the Lord called him to be a prophet. He preached in Palestine and in Tafnis, a city in Egypt, for which the Jews stoned him. It is possible that he died there and was laid in the place where the royal palace once was, because the Egyptians revered Jeremiah. Then his ashes were transferred to Alexandria and buried there with honor. Jeremiah prophesied forty-one years, five hundred and sixty years before the coming of Jesus Christ.
